That Guy Thread
>Ranger goes to next town
>Party heads to a completely different town
>Party heads to a completely different region
>Party heads to a completely different plane
>Ranger left a sputtering madman, riding on forever warning peaceful villages of imminent threats and demon armies, though none ever seem to show up
Could also just direct him to a deep wilderness or place where he's unlikely to escape easily, or better yet a place where the horses are likely to get their legs broken and strand the Ranger, and head the opposite direction so you'll have a head start.
Do this OP:
>be alchemist
>walking through the street in a secret mission
>suddenly a lady offers me tea
>politely say no
>DM: she isn't inviting you, you go and drink tea
>okay.jpg
>keep advancing
>sometime later a man offers a ride
>say no
>DM:you enter into the car
>what
>DM:the guy quickly leaves the car, locking the doors
>wtf
>DM:you see that there is a bomb under your foot, who will explode if you move. What do you do?
>spend the rest of the session trying to defuse a bomb
This game didn't go past session 1. I wonder why.
He's a stranger with a shit ton of money to bribe 'em with.
Not being hunted. Can't really bypass towns because of the railroad. Do I have to apologise for a bit of bellyaching? Because we were on the way to PLOT but pretty much nothing happened that session. Hell, the GM ruled that we got 0 XP from it.
We've had enough infighting already, and that's all will come out of this little stunt, unfortunately.
The railroad is strong. xD
Time to bring this train out of rails then.
Crash it with no survivors!
And to think I was gonna be nice to the newb GM...
It'll be worse when the campaign ends (if it even gets to that point) and he finds out no one was having fun and it was all his fault. I've fucked up in DMing before and it's better to get called out on your shit while it's happening so you can try to fix it than only finding out after it was over and feeling like you wasted everyone's time.
Yeah he's gone too far. This is the kind of shit that really irritates me as a player. I've had to deal with it before, and trust me, it's not pretty. Now, I know you are a paladin and thus Lawful Good, but there might be another party member who might be annoyed by this bullshit as well. Specifically, a wizard or sorcerer, and one with fewer moral scrupules as yourself. Now, this is a stretch, but try to find out if the ranger has any family. Maybe do a divination spell or scrying or some other shit. Then, the wizard can find the nearest family member, preferably a lover, even better a childhood lover, as that is linked to deep primal psyche shit. Deal with them as you please. A wizard should be able to come up with something pretty good. Grease plus burning hands makes for a fairly agonizing death. Or use hold person and tie them up before torturing them to death. Whatever it is, make sure the wizard is watching carefully, as the next step is to cast Nightmare.

This spell allows you to send a nightmare to any creature in unlimited range. Next time the ranger sleeps, he will see in his dreams his beloved being raped, cut apart, left to die slowly. Or his brother slaughtered in cold blood. Or his mother blasted apart by magic missiles. Whichever. Then when he awakens, he will realize he is responsible for their deaths, by being a fucking twat. Or he'll make more trouble for you. Either way, your group will get off scot-free. You might have to kill the wizard, too, but the ranger will be out of the way, and honestly losing a couple characters to get rid of one annoying prick is not that bad. I once wiped out three characters of a group because the fourth was annoying me, so it could be worse.
Main problem is that I don't think any of our spellcasters have access to the 5e knockoff of that spell yet.
