>letting us down

his high pitched voice is annoying
other than that hes okay

He still hasn't made a Chicago-style deep dish pizza video

He's been phoning it in recently

Absolutely love the man

Also just realizing for the first time he has yellow eyes

Decent chef

Absolute terrible and cancerous fanbase

His pointless cayenne shaking pisses me off, his jokes and voice annoy the fuck out of me, however he's a good chef and knows what he's doing, I've made some of his recipes like the mushroom risotto and they always come out delicious as fuck.

Search for a recipe you've mastered. If you haven't mastered a recipe or he doesn't have the one you've mastered, then leave and come back when you have something in common. Learn everything you can about this recipe and really try to get it down.

Now come back and watch the video. You are going to be frustrated at how wrong he gets it.

Let me ask you: With this new perspective, can you possibly trust the rest of his videos? I didn't think so.

Bruno Albouze puts every wannabe cook on YouTube to fucking shame. Chef John looks like a house wife by comparison.

I adore him.

I'm excited for his demi glace cheat

Anyone have his pics from Folsom Street?

>Ywn be Chef John's devoted toilet slave, to be loaned out to his LGBT chef buddies

How would food wishes make a meal out of pic related?

Thx for the tip on bruno, dude looks like a monster.

>look, a male chef

probably bait, but do you have any female chefs on youtube youd recommend? its harder for women to get likes on social media, so every little bit of promotion helps :)

>Has he ever let us down?

Yeah a food times. Some of his recipes are genuinely bad. But the rate at which they're good is like 85%, and the rate at which they're outstanding is about 20%, which is really high

overall a great resource. also, great dad jokes

Actually he has
youtu.be/7ak4950FQX8

That is the lewdest accent I've ever heard.

the point of food wishes isnt to cook "mastered" versions of dishes, it's to cook easy good versions and teach confidence in basic principals

i guess that completely went over your head

cum

8/8 would bang.
> Adds cayenne.

You are now aware that if you search Fetlife's San Francisco area with "Cayenne," you will find a certain YT chef's profile

Just be warned you can't unsee.

This, Chef John's cooking is anything but "faithful."

He unapologetically cooks shit the way he likes it, and I respect that.

can confirm that his mushroom risotto is terrific

>why not both

i have leftover of that shit in my fridge right now

that and his maple miso salmon are two of the highest yield quality/effort recipes i've ever encountered in my life

yo that's my other favorite recipe of his!

yeah the method of cooking the fish is really what it's about. i've moved on to making like maple brown sugar salmon and mustard seed salmon with the same method and shit, works like a charm

I feel better every time he makes a mistake, which is about every 3rd dish

My dad is jealous of Chef John, lel. He saw my desktop while I was writing an obituary for Chef Johns mother Pauline who died recently (pic related) and I told him all about Chef John and how great his food is. Now whenever my dad cooks he makes some buttmad comment about the Chef. For example 'Food Wishes? Yeah, wishes it would be cooked by me and not that youtube fatass'. Or he hums the 'doodooodoodo' from the start of his videos whenever he plates food for me.
Its pretty pathetic really. Chef John is a professional, I don't expect my father to match it.

I can't tell if this is a bait, but if it is you sure have put some effort into it.

this is some very high-level posting

>save one blank text document to your desktop
>copy and paste it 57 times
>rename each one to a fairly recent FoodWishes recipe
>change background to first google images result for Chef John
>bang out 150 generic words for a fake obit

WA LA

More effort than most shit posting t b h

>you are the Guy Fieri of your obituary

>it actually rhymes

I like him because he is the most down to earth chef out there. Shows food only, no fancy editing, unnecessary shots of the chef himself or him prepping food, the entertainment factor is literally limited to his commentary alone. He explains everything without bullshit or fluff and every single one of his recipies can be made by someone who is preparing his first dish.

My only gripe is that style of cooking is very american, doesn't mean it tastes bad, I just never browse his blog when I actually want to try out something new.

Post it, I can't find it

I totally agree. I love his videos and the fact that they are purpose driven. He teaches. The videos aren't about him. You're right that his style is very American. I generally use his videos for technique guides and American cuisine. I'm currently studying cooking in Kyoto, so I mostly make Japanese food, but I like to find specific resources for the cuisine in question. If you are okay with it being American style, he is a wealth of knowledge.

His mom did just die to be fair. On mother's day.

Can you talk more about what exactly you're training toward?

>(((John Mitzewich)))

(you)

got a link? don't want to make a fetlefe acc just for memes

his recipes are better than his dadjokes

i love this meme

his pineapple upside down cake was very disappointing. i've tried a few other recipes that turned out awesome but mostly he taught me proper technique.

Laura Vitalli is ok, annoying voice though

Yeah, but don't get too excited. I'm not in a culinary program. I came to Japan originally to focus on improving my language skills before returning to the US for my PhD. So, I decided to move and I began teaching English to pay part of my way. Once here, I came into contact with a kaiseki chef and began privately tutoring him. In exchange, he teaches me Japanese cooking. I began with simple techniques and the basics of flavor profiles, then began to master particular dishes. He also owns a bar, so be has been focusing on teaching me this style of cooking so that I can begin working in the kitchen. I don't do anything with kaiseki since its too difficult, but I have learned everyday Japanese cooking as well as the most popular dishes out at Japanese restaurants. There are some local dishes thrown in too, but not as many. In short, I'm an amateur. I just got lucky with a good opportunity while I work on my studies. I'm sorry if it sounded misleading, but I feel like I am studying cooking as well since I spend about 20 hours/week on it.

I really like chef john, unlike other cooking vids, he's quick to the point

Pros:
-solid library of videos
-recipes that are easy to follow, and stuff that is practical
-more advanced than microwave-food tier, but not pretentious time consuming shit unless it offers flavor
-somewhat cleaver puns/jokes
-good camera work
-updates regularly

Cons:
-lol cayenne
-that stupid inflection of his voice
-some of his 'recipes' are a bit stretching, aka dumb

Casual channel.

Good post, had a chuckle

;____;

>inflection
You mean intonation?

Holy fucking kek
