At a friend's house, finishing a handle of Lamb's white rum with limes and starting a bottle of cheap BC Merlot. Planning on finishing this book and maybe, just maybe drink myself to sleep. How goes, friends?

Used to drink too much everyday. I decided to quit and become a trucker, best decision ever. Made quitting easy, few temptations on the road, making more money than ever, sober and moved out of parents house. Now I can have a couple beers every once in awhile and it's no big thing.

my pupper is the only thing that keeps me from drinking too much anymore. One night I let her out to go potty and passed out on the couch. I woke up a few hours later and she was asleep on the front porch door mat. I felt like the biggest piece of shit alive

I used to have hope things might get better. Now I feel like the never will. I know if I quit drinking and worked towards my problems I might find some modicum of improvement in my life but honestly the ceiling for the rest of my life is very low. I feel like just distracting myself until I'm ready to die which probably won't be too much longer. Getting really tired.

Cuba isn't really the place for aged rums, that's not to say they can't make good aged rum because they can, but other countries do it better if we're talking best of the best. I'd go for the white stuff, it's got more cultural weight.

The dream is real user. Just get your cdl and so many companies will hire you just for having it. Some will pay for you to get a cdl and guarantee you a job in 6 weeks. For me it made getting sober easy and gave me something to work towards instead of drinking everyday and having a bum highschool tier job.

ive drank close to 750 ml of hard liquor a day for months on end and never had any issues like that when quitting. just felt really depressed for a few days with slight anxiety

If you're just getting into rum, Zacapa 23 from Guatemala is the canonical entry-level dark rum. But beyond that, it's personal taste. Learn the geographies and you'll figure out what you like best. I prefer agricoles for dark, and central americans for light, with a couple of years of age. Ten Cane is another great light rum but it's in its own weird category, not to mention pretty much unobtainium. I find light rums ultimately more interesting because they are underappreciated and the greats tend to get killed off by the manufacturer after a few beautiful years of love and life, and then spergs squabble over the NOS bottles

I appreciate the recommendations; this is what I've been drinking lately, either neat or mixed with coke. It's pretty damn good too, for ten bucks a bottle, but I think it's time to drop big boy money on big boy drink, expand my horizons some

I got to two liquor stores which are close to me. One looks at me like I'm absolute scum since I buy booze frequently and drank drive back there once to get more and the same guy was still working so I'm pretty sure all the staff know I'm an alcoholic and a drink driver.

The other one is a small store and I think they're happy for my business although it was embarrassing recently when I bought some beer and the guy commented, "No Turkey today?"

Even if someone had purchased something earlier that day the attendant's just going to say he seemed sober so I assumed he bought the other as a gift, for someone else, etc.

No, the regular merlot. Like I said, I don't have much experience in wine, and I was trying to stock a cabinet. This one is much better than the other sub-$20 wines I've tried, however, leading me to believe it's a choice of category, rather than brand
