What are you go to pre-packaged biscuits?

What are you go to pre-packaged biscuits?

I can polish off a box of these effortlessly. Hobnobs better but my local grocery store doesn't stock them.

Digestives, Bourbons and Malted Milks.

>Malted Milks

Sublime with a cup of tea or coffee.

Pure garbage on their own.

Chocolate digestives are top tier, but I prefer bourbons.
Jaffa cakes are superior, but expensive as fuck unless they're on special offer. And, frankly, if I normalise eating them I will get fat and ruin my appetite for meals.

You really can't beat bourbons dipped in hot chocolate, though.

>Jaffa cakes are superior,

I never got the appeal in them. I don't mind them but wouldn't buy them. My mum loves them though. The only time I ever eat them is when I have coffee at her place and she serves them.

There's just something about them, though. JUST enough chocolate, and the orangey bit, and then the squishy cakey stuff.

Stroopwaffles are my fucking jam.

not too bad

...

biscuits you say?

these and they gotta be smothered in sausage gravy

Why are those digestives in a box?

>Jaffa cakes
>Biscuit

Nothing compares

sexy biscuit

...

I usually get shortbread or butter cookies, they aren't overly sweet

Do you remember the cake bars they did of these?

They're technically biscuits, for tax purposes.

that's not sausage gravy
that's beef broth

Que buena pinta tiene las galletas

These ums.

These are great and I'm not even mexican. Kick Chips Ahoy's ass.

i don't know what the fuck definition of biscuit is being used but i do know that those are cookies

Other way around.

The definition of biscuit is biscuit, are you simple?

>ITT cookies

Why is that a picture of crackers?

I really like these but they're gonna make me fat some day at the rate I go through them.

because america

>Hobnobs better but my local grocery store doesn't stock them
You should move to a better area, alternately do what I used to do and order in a whole carton of those tasty motherfuckers and eat it over the course of a few months

Travelling the El Nino to Flavortown?

why does the US suck so hard at cookies/biscuits/whatever you want to call them? the imported stuff is always so much better.

That's the Australian packaging. American one is boasting about no trans fats.

kek

Just one thread, all I ask is for a single thread that Americans don't shitpost in.

Are they rusks?

How odd, here in the UK they come in a plastic sleeve.

Maybe you should stop shopping at Walmart.

But don't they go soft after a while? Or do you keep them in some sort of hermetically sealed container?

Maybe they simply aren't popular enough for a quality manufacturer to start up a production line or something.

Maybe you all subconsciously know they are British therefore evil and an affront to your freedoms.

It's the same issues with finding a good pie in America. One of those mysteries of the universe.

>browsing Veeky Forums
>not expecting shitposting

I don't know what you thought would happen

When you're right, you're right, and you, you're always right.

How the hell does tax come into it?

Biscuits are subject to tax, cakes are not..

Confirming that in Malaysia and Thailand they are packaged in cardboard box. Too expensive, so everybody buys Dewberry cookies instead.

This theory has never been tested because nobody has ever been able to make a pack of them last longer than a single day once opened.

That's fucking ridiculous. What country?

This is a very valid point.

Oh fuck, now I want some. Off to the shop I go. I needed milk anyway.

>They're technically biscuits, for tax purposes.
You have that backwards, chocolate covered biscuits are eligible for VAT, but not chocolate covered cakes.

>The court found in favour of McVities and ruled that the product should be considered a cake, meaning that VAT is not paid on Jaffa Cakes in the United Kingdom.[12][16]

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaffa_Cakes#Categorisation_as_cake_or_biscuit_for_VAT

>tax breaks are ridiculous

McVities digestives and Jaffa cakes are British therefore we are talking about...

It's honestly wasteful. They're in a foil sleeve inside the box. Should just be a foil sleeve with printing on it. No needs for the extra packaging.

>You should move to a better area,

Nah, I like where I am but Woolworths and Aldi are my nearby stores and for some retarded reason Coles has exclusive distribution for Hobnobs in Australia. The Woolworths and Aldi have everything I need so I only go to Coles for specific shit that is on special. If I'm there I might pick up a pack or two however when I'm at Coles I usually grab their large choc chip cookies from the bakery aisle. Those are fucking delicious although they never bake enough choc chip. 9 times out of 10 when I go there all they've got is mountains of peanut butter or oatmeal and raisin and an empty space where the choc chip were. No idea why management doesn't realize the other kind are shit because they're always left over. Make more choc chip you dumb faggots.

Well, yes, understand perfectly that they are British, but they're sold in many countries. Any one of those countries could have ridiculous tax laws that discriminate between cakes and biscuits/cookies.

Also who gets these tax breaks? The consumer? Is it of any significance? I mean would you notice that you're making that saving?

The packaging presumably provides some extra strength, makes them easier to stack, and makes them stand out more on the shelf so that tourists and expats can more easily locate the product from the Asian copycat products.

I'm back from the shop lads, I got my milk and chocolate Hob-Nobs.

I also got a packet of the double chocolate digestives. Fun times lie ahead.

I doubt that it would result in a difference of a few pennies per individual unit, but you know corporations, if there is a chance to save a few shekels, you can bet your last pound that they will jump on it.

I doubt they would be sold anywhere else in the world other than little import shops, so they wouldn't be found in any sort of quantity in any other country other than The United Kingdom. My guess would be that the second largest consumer would be South Britain AKA Fiorina "Fury" 161 AKA Australia.

I do wonder where this little tax difference actually came from, what legislation impacted biscuits and not cakes.

I suppose these little quirks are what make life interesting.

...

Where are the biscuits?

These are cheap and kinda low quality but I like them.

These fuckers right here

Speaking as someone with an empty packet on my desk...
I thought the cracker part was kinda bland. Chocolate is still really nice.
Do you remember something nearly identical to those but had a big "50p" on the lower centre? I remember I used to buy a pack after school from my paki shop but I can't remember anything else about them.

I like that the biscuit part is kind of bland, it balances with the chocolate well so it's not too sweet. I especially like the dark chocolate variety.

digestives are very common and sold in almost every grocery store here in sweden. never seen a jaffa cake tho.

That's surprising. We aren't America, I don't expect Greggs to build an outlet on every street around the world like the burgers and their McDonalds.

It always astounds me to hear of something British that is common elsewhere.

Umm... actually this is maybe correct for the US, but these products are fairly common in SE Asia due to the prevalence of Tesco and a few other European chain stores. In Malaysia many of the smaller shops stock these products on account of it being a former British colony and I guess the locals have a soft spot for the products. Thailand was never a colony, but the king of around 1830s was very fond of British culture and mandated that everyone should start to dress in British style clothes, started major trading with Britain, and I'm gonna guess these cookies would have been one of the first food products to be imported. Today they are found mainly in Tesco and occasionally 7-eleven. Not sure if Makro stocks them, but probably, and if so then a few corner shops might stock as a luxury item. Price is at least 10 times higher than local brands in Thailand and about 30% higher than local brands in Malaysia. None of this matters, but just letting you know where you can get your Digestive fix in SE Asia. Pretty sure also that when I was in Canada you could get these from RCSS and from whatever that supermarket chain is that sells President's Choice products as their generic line.

ummm... meant to reply to this, so that reply is here

>these products are fairly common in SE Asia due to the prevalence of Tesco
This one blows my mind.

I suppose the imperial holdover explains a lot of it, no matter how weird it is to hear about.

But they go stale not soft.
Cakes go stale, biscuits go soft. That is the definition by any reasonable man.

Good work, mate. Cracker choices.

Are digestives high in fiber or something?
The name suggests that they help you have bowel movements.

The name is a holdover of the history of the product.

I think it was the baking powder they are made with used to be considered good for digestion in the Victorian era when they were first produced so they were marketed as such it just stuck over time.

But they are made out of what, wheat? That has to contain some fibre.

maaaa nigerrrr
i could legit eat a whole pack in one sit

Then we should all be cake eaters. Fuck The Man.

i do good lads?

nice

I love nibbling the chocolate off these, it's the best way to eat them

these. I'm allergic to all forms of nuts, and sensitive to dairy and dairy products so stuff like chocolate chip cookies are a no go most of the time.
These are actually good though. Regular is my favorite, but vanilla is alright.

nice

Odd thing about these is that cheap off-brand cookies like that are better than big brand names.
The biscuits of the cheap discounter ones are unsweetened which is a nice contrast to the chocolate cream.

are these even still a thing?

I remember annoying the shit out of my dad as a kid singing the song

Legally, they are biscuits, and thus they belong here. They're in the biscuit aisle and not the cake aisle, too.

Yes. Just down from the jaffa cakes.

Fuck off retard the clue is in the name
jaffa CAKES, not jaffa fucking biscuits
prick

Good picks gentleman

That baby is adorable.

It's been years since I've had any, but Belgian butter cookies in tin cans are amazing.

How many times do I have to tell you that you are wrong?

Time for the big guns yet?

These bad boys.

Viscount desu senpai

Nibble politely at the overhanging chocolate on the sides, then eat the rest in one greedy big bite.

Mah nigga, 39p out of farmfoods

I'd go through 2-3 packets whenever I bought them, desu being neet made me lose weight as I couldn't buy them

This is the new meta

AncientFag here.

Do they still make hobnobs with caramel then chocolate on top? They were perfection in a biscuit.

Amerifat here, grew up in England tho but these things are literally crack...I can polish off a packet of Jamie Dodgers aswell

everything in this thread is vomit inspiring

I could see some of these as biscuits, but are you telling me that a chocolate chip cookie is not a cookie like in

kill yourself

This man knows what's up.
