Yep. I went through a period of severe depression that lasted about a year, and during that time, I drank a whole lot of bottom-shelf vodka and gin, including Taaka. My asshole bled a lot.

Eventually I got better mentally, and the bleeding stopped. I don't drink that shit anymore. I do still binge-drink sometimes, when I'm out with friends, but we don't drink cheap shit and my only fear is a hangover if I don't sufficiently hydrate.

Starr Blu. As far as I'm concerned the number of times distilled is the only marker of quality for vodka. This shit is distilled 5 times and goes for $15/handle, which is about as good as it gets in terms of the ratio of cost to # of distillations. There are vodkas distilled 6 times at a slightly higher price point, higher strength vodkas at a higher price point, and overengineered 20x distilled vodkas at a huge markup from the others, but as far as everyday usage goes it's hard to beat SB, at least in my market.

My uncle on my mom's side (full chinese) has the same issues. Drinks a craft beer, gets all red and puffy then knocks the fuck out. Thank god those genes are recessive/absent, about 90% of my friends right now are heavy alcoholics.

I think costco also has a few vodkas in their portfolio that are distilled roughly the same number of times at a similar price to SB, but I haven't been in some time so I can't recall exactly.
