Just look at it!!!

Awesome layout senpai.

where are these?

nice!!

I came to post this. Glad to see someone else doing God´s work.

I know that book.

>Can you spot a book that you know?

kek desu senpai

That looks horrifying and turd-ugly.

University of Chicago old

University of Chicago new

George Peabody Library at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore

plebs btfo

holy fuck
I'm pretty sure this is how Borges imagined paradise

damn

t-that's that's a nice library

>tfw closest library in my town in literally a refurbished takeaway

people keep going in thinking they can order a kebab

...

OP is Admont Abbey in Austria, the second one is in Spijkenisse, Netherlands.

t. Google Image Search

Where are the books?

It's a modern building, why should there be books? They get in the way of design.

wanted to make sure someone had posted somehink juicyyy

Somehow that picture looks noisy.

DOPE I would never get out.

libraryofbabel.info

where are the books my man?

le turkey building lol

> Hope you like glare, dirty windows, and shitty, uncomfortable plastic chairs!

Whoever did this redesign should probably kill themselves

In their iPads, it's 2016!

what did they do with the old library??

Just so everyone knows, they didn't redesign the library. The glass one is across campus from the old one. It's attached to a larger brutalist library.

Also the glass one is super loud/glaring. So there's that.

but the old one didnt have any books in it either

I noticed that too and thought maybe they moved the books to (which looks like it could be an Apple store).

Well that's good at least

> brutalist

Let me guess, it's "brutalist" but it has little to no vegetation

The entire point of brutalism was for the harsh-looking buildings to contrast with copious amounts of vegetation and foliage

...

That thing is awesome. Has anyone ever found a "book" that makes sense?

Absolutely uncomfortable.

there will be a book of this conversation if you search for it.

libraryofbabel.info/book.cgi

Only one. Finnegans Wake.

sorry the real link too long to be posted

They're underground & retrieved by robots

t. UChicago student

Those books are all going to get sun bleached. What an awful design

Why are the mods so blind and dumb. They delete the original but leave this one up? I hope the posters don't get a day-ban, but have some consistency. We just had a janitor call recently too.

0_O

Fucking awesome!!

Library Lello in Porto, Portugal. It's called the Harry Potter library. Btw, the picture is already more than one hundred years old.

Lello in Porto, Portugal, it's called "the Harry Potter's library". Btw the picture is already more than one hundred years old.

They moved all the books to the brutalist one. The old one is now a sumptuous reading room. Judge for yourself.

Can I live there?

the Turks have horrid architecture

how did they know what Harry Potter was back then?

You want something even creepier?

Try searching for ways your family members have died or major events in your life.

...

It's a bastardization of a term people used for the Portuguese. They were all very hairy, and Portugal was full of ports and port workers, called porters, so people referred to the Portuguese as hairy porters.

ayyyy

the lair of Bridget: $34 of overdue fines and counting, senpai

The actual books are beneath the surface in a larger basement area. They've got a robot that plucks them from the shelf on order for some sections.

Good, actually the guys in the picture are pretty hairy.
But if you don't know, the Harry Potter's book started being written in a Porto cafe. And this library, is called by the tourist the HP library because how it looks like.

They should allow people live there.

this one is book-related, you cuckold

lyon 8eme.

nice place but full of crying kids sometimes.

Nice, I wonder if they have any classical Veeky Forums of value there?

That's a bookshop, not a library, idiot.

It's a good thing you were here.

library of congress reading room

>tfw uni library is ugly and badly stocked
>it's full of ethnics and chads
>half the space is devoted to computers
>town library is no better
>all the architecture is uninspired 'cool and modern' stuff with endless glass and plastic

the only decent thing to come out of my uni library is some fucking hilarious bant when someone discovered a tumblr of a gay guy who would take pics of himself masturbating and shoving buttplugs up his ass in the library, the pics used to be up online but they were taken down when someone notified the uni, search 'youngcumlover69' and you'll get the one or two results that remain after the uni tried to purge any knowledge of it happening

Having fun ain't hard when you have a library card

One of the libraries at my school

Shouldn't you be in bed grandpa?

what school senpai? i've seen this pic before.

Cornell

>Those books are all going to get sun bleached. What an awful design
this

this is where I spend most of my day every day

...

...

I do not chose to be a shitskins :c

>let's design a library
>hell yeah let's make the ceiling all glass because that will definitely not blind the students when they are staring at their computer screens or trying to read a book

also fuck this open space bullshit.

Does anyone else here mostly use the library as their source of books? I don't own more than ten books because of how frequently I use the library

Owning them makes me feel special though.

>tfw you didn't go to Yale

Good thing I went to Harvard.

It's hard to see in the pic but that glass ceiling has a subtle UV filter on the inside, like a coating applied to the glass, so it's not too bright inside at all. It's really a very nice reading room to study in. Not loud either. Source: former student

>not loud

Of course it isn't. It's UChicago.

It can be considered a library. And it is actually like a museum now.

i live there

My school's library. Behind the book cases/walls. There study rooms of various sizes, as well as computer rooms but they aren't seen from the outside. However it's a bloody labyrinth behind.

I've actually been there, came buckets
>tfw the busts of Homer, Plato and Cicero looking majestic as fuck

Where is the crowd of muslims circling around it?

>muslims
>library

to be frank they usually hang around the library in Utrecht causing trouble because they have no place else to go. It is great to witness the grand success of the multicultural experiment every, single, day.

...

that ceiling is just incredibly beautiful

I'm so sorry user...

>dat gevoel wanneer je niet in het westen woont
voelt pittig goed om zo weinig zandnegers te zien

>It must be a movement then, an actuality of the possible as possible. Aristotle’s phrase formed itself within the gabbled verses and floated out into the studious silence of the library of Saint Genevieve where he had read, sheltered from the sin of Paris, night by night. By his elbow a delicate Siamese conned a handbook of strategy. Fed and feeding brains about me: under glowlamps, impaled, with faintly beating feelers: and in my mind’s darkness a sloth of the underworld, reluctant, shy of brightness, shifting her dragon scaly folds. Thought is the thought of thought. Tranquil brightness. The soul is in a manner all that is: the soul is the form of forms. Tranquillity sudden, vast, candescent: form of forms.

I usually hate modern architecture in libraries but there's something comfy about this.

Is that Stift Admond?

What do you mean, considered? Can you take books from it without paying? I don't think so, and just because it's got an entry fee doesn't make it a museum.

Search about it on Internet, you will understand.

>dat gevoel wanneer je een zandneger bent
>dat gevoel wanneer je in zowel turkije als nederland als buitenlander gezien word

Het leven is hard anoniem, tot ziens.

Literally everything is in the library of babel. That's kind of the point. The mind-boggling thing is not that everything is in it, but that the answers to any question we may have from why OP is such a faggot to the biggest mysteries of the universe are in there and we just don't know where to find them.
