Have you no shame, OP?
This (somewhat)
Nice Warriors book, no shame there, although (even though anyone born from 1996-2002 read them) you haven't burned your diary of a wimpy kid books yet.
Nice LotR collection. Although get Return of the King in the same edition for a completion orgasm.
...
At least your girlfriend reads.
Gonna be sideways, not taking another picture.
Let me know what you think?
Much patrician my lad, much patrician.
Am I supposed to be able to read this?
take pictures where we can read the titles.
...
Are you being sincere?
You must be on mobile? The only really amazing thing in there is my Latin dictionary.
That puzzle is still in the plastic. Who do you think you're kidding? You clearly didn't even do it.
Do you have to be a virgin to post in this thread?

Yeah that is because I haven't put it together yet.

I'm a lit fag visiting for another week, keeping an eye on my mom as she gets surgery. Any good used book stores nearby? Want to hang out over coffee?

They are pretty. The fact you are annoyed about the binding of a book shows your autism mate.
Move your books more forward.
the fact you think they're pretty shows your plebitude buddy
I would give him the benefit of the doubt, cracks in the spine and such have to be pretty significant to be visible, and my Oxford World Classics are trashed but would look about the same as his.
>Guinness World Records

not everyone is a barbarian who can't hold a book without destroying it
other guy is right you're a pleb, but you're new here obviously, so you'll learn quick enough. If you want pretty go buy folio edition.

cracks are inevitable after reading a book that is not hardcover, you poser
>non-fiction
Not covering your paperbacks with transparent vinyl contact paper so they look good after reading them a couple of times
You people disgust me.
how old are you?
...
I'm gonna get shit on so hard
I'm 21. Why do you ask?
Yes, if you are a clumsy ham-fisted thug
since this is obviously not true, i think you just outed yourself as someone who's never read a book
EVERYONE POINT AND LAUGH AT THE PSEUD
The manga and children's books aren't usually on these shelves, but I wanted a picture that has a full wall of books.
Newbie
Trash and bios
You're one of the few people here who knows how to take a nice picture
:^)
Took closer-ups, but not very clear since my actual camera's dead right now. I think most titles are readable in most of them though.

The manga and children's books. I haven't been into manga for a long time, but I kept a lot of my favorites. I'm mostly buying books for the children's lit shelves right now--I have Madeline, some E.B. White, more of the bilingual Japanese/English ones and others coming at the moment.

And the last, more non-fiction.
I'm quite impressed by that little asian library you've got there.
I will continue to buy some, but I'm hoping to switch to their original language eventually :)
Thanks, user! I'd also like to eventually get a few of the prettier complete sets of my favorites, but most of the authors I research are already on Aozora Bunko, so. I've never needed to.
are you in tokyo?
No, I'm in Dallas. How come?
How did you learn japanese?
bilingual Japanese/English books for the kids
though on the other hand your house is american sized and has american-style carpeting so that makes more sense
...
From university, mostly. And the internet.
I have a halfhearted plan to try for a Japanese au pair and raise my children bilingual. But, that's probably about as weeaboo as it gets. And Japanese au pairs seem relatively rare.
Only pic I had so I blurred my face.
just get a madrilena like a normal person

Two questions:
Why are the Rushdie separated like that - recent purchase or a larger weirder message?
And also what is your profession? The design + medical books are an interesting combination.
>ebooks
i've seen this picture on here before i think, so i don't know if this is actually yours or if you're just reposting it for some depraved reason
but it's always nice to see a copy of the Codex Seraphinianus on here. the copy in your pic is older but here's mine, on a shelf which mostly contains oversized arty books from exhibitions at museums and galleries.
I gave up on alphabetic sorting so just jammed them in whatever nook was left.
Med student, who likes design.
Yup it's mine, that bookcase never really changes in content so i just always use the same pic.
I still want the two-volume first edition of Codex, greatest book ever.
What's that next to the Gauguin book, that looks like a random collection of lines and curves on the side?
it actually says "HIGHLIGHTS". the text is wrapped round onto the back cover of the book so only the top half of the letters is visible (and the left vertical line of the "H" is also cropped)
it's a guidebook from the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam
Nice Japanese lit collection!
Have you considered learning the language, seeing you're so invested in the culture?
>Nooteboom
checked
I do learn it, I just don't own much in Japanese. Since my area of study is Taisho/pre-war lit, it's all up online for free. I'm actually doing some translations of Yumeno Kyusaku's poetry for a thing in November, right now.
I don't care for this at all... Otherwise, nice collection!
How much would you say your taste has been influenced by Veeky Forums? I see you have a big concern for reading the canon as I think is quite common on here, but at the same time your jap lit section is obviously quite patrician.
I don't know how much I would say Veeky Forums's recommendations have influenced me (as there are few anons here who read much that I don't already know and would want to know, and most of them left a long time ago), but being a part of Veeky Forums certainly influenced how my taste developed. For several years it was almost a race for obscurity, to find the weirdest works, the most niche publishers, the works that only two libraries in the USA had and that I had to interlibrary loan for $20+. I'd share them with Veeky Forums and some caught on. But eventually I realized I went too far, and not even Veeky Forums cared to talk about those things anymore, and I bounced back into general literature and have settled pretty comfortably into my "true" taste now.
Of the people of Veeky Forums who influenced me most, the trip Croaker is tops, since he's who (not intentionally) got me interested in Japanese lit. Though technically that was before I came to Veeky Forums.
Lekkere collectie, pik.
Heb de Nederlandse literatuur de laatste tijd nogal links laten liggen. Is Nescio wat waard buiten Dichtertje/Titaantjes/De Uitvreter?
En ben je fan van Bernlef?
Did you just graduate from high school?
>not using the pdf file formaf
You fucking pleb
That's complete horse shit.
Is that a katana?
Het Bureau lijkt me gortdroog.
Is this in someone's bathroom?
Nope, it's not a bathroom if it's not missing toilet paper when you go take a shit
What the fuck kind of' shelf is that?
The kind that baits people like you :^)
