Read 3 million words of good literature, have that subconsciously engrained into your mind.
Write 1 million words of mainly shitty prose while struggling to find your voice and style.
After this point you should be able to write a children's book, provided the illustrations are colorful enough to distract the 4 year old from your terrible plot.

First I got an address from someone on the official Facebook group, but that letter was returned to me. Then I emailed his literary agency and they said they would forward the letter to him, so I sent it to them. It's been eight months and I haven't heard a word from them or him.
Now, finally, I emailed the agency again, and they gave me a PO Box address. I sent the letter off about nine days ago. Here's hoping this one doesn't get returned to sender too.
