OP here with some clarification. Of course some shitposting comes with the territory of Veeky Forums. I was just hoping this board would have more original shitposts in addition to some interesting discussions.

Been here since it's inception. it was never 'ok'. Only rarely do you have actual math discussions in /SQT/ or the advanced math threads or some random thread that sparks good mathematical depth. 99% of the time the discussions are shit.

Some of the shitposting was humorous though. Nowadays it's just lowhanging fruit and Flat-Earthers (which is sometimes funny)
Veeky Forums is at a much lower level for Veeky Forums stuff than Veeky Forums is for Veeky Forums stuff.
STEM is just full of fuckloads of young dumb & full of cum guys, who have committed themselves to a major and therefore to some extent a lifestyle and career. They're looking to feel like it's more than the busywork they do on weekdays. It's understandable, but the downside is that Veeky Forums is filled with first year undergrads with 30,000 opinions about STEM shit and their majors and the desire to have AUTHORITY AND PRESTIGE like a SCIENTIST.
