Sure.

he probably pays people to read to him

he's very stupid

He said Henry Janes was his favorite novelist and T. S. Eliot his favorite poet. He knows Latin, Ancient Greek, Spanish, Italian, French, Middle English, Old English. He has released audiobooks for Rimbaud's poetry, Divine Comedy Beowulf, Trolius and Criseyde, and more. He has a PhD in literature with a focus on metamodernism. What do you think?

I think he did alright.
"What did you think of Citizen Kane?" would be an opening debate question in an ideal world.

I thought Yeats was his favorite poet

>What do you think?

That you have spent too much time shitposting on /pol/.

>'knowing' Middle English
Nigga it's just modern English with minor modifications to spelling, vocabulary and conjugation. You can undrstand Middle English perfectly well with minor annotations.

But to stay on topic, I would genuinely be shocked if he's read a single book for pleasure in his entire life. Feel free to shock me.

I read lots of books. The best books. And I've had plenty of success as a writer. I've written some fantastic books. Some of the best selling books of all time.

>muh /pol/ boogeyman

you missed the turn to reddit

Sanders read the most out of all of them.

Ask anyone and they'll tell ya, I only read the best books and I've learned everything there is to know from America's best and smartest writers, ask anybody

Trump don't really give a fuck.

He don't read books nor watch TV/films, basically an American.

The only reason he's so popular now is because of his""""""""""humour"""""""""". Since the guy is doing his whole campaign by his own money he's also more free (more amurikan) to joke around or say truths nobody else would say.

American politics is a joke and Trump is the funniest clown. #build_wall #winter_is_coming

This. He'd probably be able to have the best book conversations. Ben Carson probably second.

That being said, this notion that being well-read is an essential quality is based on outdated tabula rasa concepts of humanity. There is literally no need for an aristocrat to be familiar with your faggoty little pomo crypieces.

>Ben Carson
lol

This is the nigger who literally believes the pyramids were built by Christians for storing grain.

I really wanna fact check this but in lieu of that that's badass

Or a shy dude way out of his depth that had his thoughts jumbled from the high-energy media game and who never was really interested in Egyptology in the first place.

But sure, go ahead and do a complete psych scan based on a factoid.

He's doesn't really need to be literary. He's smart with people and money.

TRUMP WILL END NAFTA GATT ISIS & POLITICAL CORRECTNESS

TRUMP IS A GOOD THING FOR AMERICA

Who was this pasta originally written for?

His favorite book is "All's Quiet on the Western Front"

His favorite movies are Citizen Kane, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Gone with the Wind, Goodfellas and The Godfather.

While that taste would not qualify as original, it is, I think, pure Trump aesthetic. It fits.

The most interesting thing about Trump is that he seems to be more of a working class sort of guy. If a working glass guy was rich, that is.

He said his favorite book is All Quiet on the Western Front.

All he really knows is real estate and to a lesser extent, finance.

He's never had a deep thought in his life.

Are you fucking retarded?

Right, and I see no reason to believe him. His saying that is just another tool to emphasize his sensationalist masculinity.

You have a lot of time to read when you're unemployed.

This, so much. Anything about Trump that goes against what I already think of him is obviously a cynical ploy to make people think he's something other than what I know he is.

Still the best choice for America right now.

>One of the most prolific legislators in the senate
>unemployed

That is a fantastic book though

So you're just making up reasons to hate on him, I get it. I was in middle school once too.

So explain Sweden and our socialist paradise small cities where no one has read a thing

Of the 3 choices left? Literally debatable. But the system dictates that those 3 are our choices. They're not the best choices for America right now. There are hundreds of better Americans.

look up his pre-1981 years

I can hear these in his awful voice please make it stop

He was up until he was like 40.

Just because you have time to read doesn't mean you do.

Yes. Trump is literally a genius. He has an iq of 140. He will save western civilization and more importantly make America great again

Yes, more or less. Trump himself is a cynical ploy.

Never implied it wasn't I haven't read it.

No, I just won't let my hate for the embodiment of society's ills be so easily ablated. I have not been given any reason to believe a word that comes out of the orangeman's mouth, though again I'd be glad to have my attention drawn to such a reason. But as far as I can tell, Trump is the logical conclusion of the lack of seriousness, in the deepest sense, that plagues people today. Pound bemoans society's preference for a mold in plaster to fine alabaster. But now people can be content only with pixels on a screen: the representation of representation, the parody of a parody. And that is what gives us Trump. I'm just praying for nuclear obliteration at this point.

Trump is doing it out of pure love for his country. Hilllary? We all know she is only driven by power.

why choose to read when you live in paradise?

Of those TWO choices, yes.

Trump is the best.

He also promised to bomb the shit out of Isis, yet there are still people who don't want to vote for him? Explain this logic to me.

You need to be 18 to post on this website, Jimmie.

The Koran still counts.

>logical conclusion of the lack of seriousness, in the deepest sense, that plagues people today. Pound bemoans society's preference for a mold in plaster to fine alabaster.

Literally readit: the post

Because clearly bombing the shit out of a place works every time

He is only the logical conclusion to a country run by wealthy corporations.

It actually does. We nuked those japs so bad they're still funny in the head decades latter. If there were no nukes, there would be no anime

Case in point.

That too, I suppose. But the real problem of corporations having power is the erosion of seriousness. Who can think a serious thought when the advertising slogan has replaced the aphorism, and the Coca-Cola can the well-made urn?

In this case it does.

>Case in point.
Claiming that aesthetic issues show a lack of seriousness in the deepest sense is moronic given the real world issues of today in economics, security, ethics, ect. You realize that Trump plays off the pretentious posturing and out of touch attitudes of pseudo elitists such as yourself.

what's up with the trump defense force in this thread?

threads like this are a breeding ground for autism and content that doesn't relate to literature at all

it's only cool when I do it

they hope he'll give them money

>people have opinions I don't like

>prolific legislator

Very few bills written by Bernie ever get anywhere, he's kind of like Ron Paul in that he's a terribly ineffective idealist legislator.

But unlike Ron Paul he sucks the establishment's dick when needed. He eviscerated Paul's attempt to audit the fed. Also Bernie has done nothing with his life other than politics. Even Hillary at least practiced law (unscrupulously as with everything else she's ever done). The ideal of a citizen legislator is dead in this country and it's a damned shame.

Trump is essentially an American Crassus. The fact that he even got this far shows that Plato was right about democracy and that while our system was once well designed and functioned more or less effectively for almost 250 years, unaddressed executive power grabs, politicization of the court system and the general atomizing effects of democracy on society have condemned us to an imperial state.

suck my fucking dick you fucking retard

you're wrong, it's the bible

yeah you FUCKING retard shut the FUCK up i FUCKING hate you you FUCKING piece of SHIT

Crassus was an incredibly dumb man, don't compare him to Trump.

i dont care that people support trump, but im just surprised to see that so many people are defending him on this board.

most people in American, throughout every spectrum and class, support Trump

great point

There are several things wrong with this post. For one thing, I'm not just squabbling about 'aesthetic issues;' I'm talking about the discounting of aesthetics as a whole. What, after all, is the point of economy or securiy? Surely they are not to be pursued for their own sake. They must always be in the service of something greater, and I would call that something greater 'the finer things in life,' whether poetry for poetry's sake, philosophy for philosophy's sake, or mathematics for its own sake. We must not be governed only by means and take them to be our ends, and we also need to realize that the ultimate ends are good for their own sake.

But of course we've never had philosopher-kings in this country--which is a fault. I guess Trump might be argued to be in a way the end result of American pragmatism, although I'd prefer not to be so negative. I guess my real problem with Trump is not that he's not an artist or a philosopher, or even that he actively discourages art and philosophy (we've had plenty of those types in our country's history): the real problem is that he, as a man and a symbol, is exactly the opposite of everything 'fine' in life. He, his mannerisms, his 'ideologies' (I'm not convinced he has any strong convictions), his cult, are all totally opposite to what life is really about. It's not really pragmatism as you seem to think, though pragmatism can be an evil in its own right. It is a distortion, a parody, of pragmatism and populism. As I said, a parody of a parody; a distortion of a distortion. I don't care if what I say is 'pretentious,' at least I mean it.

I congratulate you on your ability to imitate Trump, but I'm not sure it's a good thing.

every post after this post has proven me right

>All's Quiet on the Western Front
>All's
>'s

*incredibly dumb man who was easily in the top 3 richest men who ever lived despite having all of his wealth confiscated as a young man

Yes, his final campaign was pants on head retarded, yes, he was, well, fucking crass in everything he did. But Crassus was not stupid. His contributions to Sulla's victory in Italy and his men did most of the fighting in the third servile war.

Crassus was a trillionaire in modern terms. His fortune would make Trump look like a pauper.

passable bait.

>likes Citizen Kane
That's it! I am now a #cruzmissile!

It's pretty easy. Short repetitive sentences

dont forget that trump is an illeist i.e. he speaks of himself in the third person like some anime girls and adult narcissists do

if you imitate trump you should avoid using 'i'

Security and economics are pursued for their own sake since the goods they provide have intrinsic value, even the pursuit of those things have intrinsic value to humans. Most aesthetic theories are nothing more than social tools to create hierarchies, naturalized aesthetic are probably possible but I doubt someone like you would advocate them. You are assuming that art and philosophy are the ends that people need, but many people would rank personal agency, objective knowledge, and social relations far higher. You confuse me with someone who supports Trump. What I am trying to say is that Trump gains every time his opposition reveals how out of touch they are, how conceited they are, and how arrogant they are.

He has an IQ of 153 and is worth $4 billion, so yes, I'd imagine he's very, very well read.

leftism has been eroding the Western democratic model for 80 years now, nationalism will put it out of its misery
I don't think Trump is the man to do it however, I would rather Hillary get in power

>He has an IQ of 153 and is worth $4 billion
i believe he either paid somebody to disguise and pass the test for him or he bribed somebody to have his results fixed

IQ doesn't mean much anyway.

My IQ is 139 and I'm still a failure.

>really wanna fact check that
>doesn't google it

this is why trump is winning

>The most interesting thing about Trump is that he seems to be more of a working class sort of guy. If a working glass guy was rich, that is.
>literally falling for it

>T. S. Eliot his favorite poet
a free verse poet as his favorite

absolutely disgusting

Doesn't need to read literature - he IS literature.

He's a businessman, entrepreneur, husband, ex-husband, father, grandfather, and he's also nearly 70 years old. You're likely in your 20s and you spend your time memeing on Veeky Forums. In his sleep he probably has deeper thoughts than you.

Well, clearly that doesnt affect Mr. Trump, as he's a father of five, loving husband and a billionaire instead of a low test pussy undergrad like you.

You're not on reddit anymore, boyo. This is not a safe space, this is 4 fucking chan, the internet hate machine. Home to the baddest edgetrolls in cyberspace. What? Thought this place was gonna be full of self-hating John Oliver-watching SJW numale liberals? Well, think again, cuck. This is a PC free zone, nobody gives a fuck about your feels it's all about Facts, Logic and Statistics. If you don't like it you can fuck off back to tumblr.

>That being said, this notion that being well-read is an essential quality is based on outdated tabula rasa concepts of humanity. There is literally no need for an aristocrat to be familiar with your faggoty little pomo crypieces.
Why is Veeky Forums so historically illiterate?

Dude played too much Civ 2. I can sympathize.

Ben Carson seems like a good man.
Very sincere, too, DFW would have loved him.

niggers arent humans

The thing I hate most about /pol/lacks is that they somehow manage to be stupid enough to not realize they play the exact same victim/identity/feelings politics but for anglophiles.
Fuck everyone itt

suck my fucking dick you fucking butthurt sjw retard and/or a subhuman nigger

>the goods they produce have intrinsic value

Lol

Regarding the rest of your post, humans can be said to have primary and secondary needs, the former being biological, the latter spiritual. By continually ameliorating his conditions, man spends less time fulfilling his primary needs and thus has more time for secondary needs: art, philosophy, whatever it may be.

>objective knowledge

U srs senpai?

The Alt-Right is the new punk rock. You got an almighty Cultural Marxist establishment bent on destroying everything that stands on its path... We are just a plucky gang of rebels hurling dank memes at the Cathedral. Somebody's gotta fight for the West, or just give up, I'm sure your future white children are gonna enjoy their lives as 2nd class citizens in Sharia transgender dystopia

Was it good?

How so? That analysis is pretty spot on.

Are you trying to claim that there is no intrinsic value in food, water, shelter, medicine, and weapons? Are you trying to claim that pursuit of primary needs dose not have intrinsic value to humans? Surrogate activities are often practice for meeting primary needs. Believe or not people find meaning in fulfilling primary need.

>the former being biological, the latter spiritual
bullshit, most secondary needs are material, social, or psychological

>By continually ameliorating his conditions, man spends less time fulfilling his primary needs and thus has more time for secondary needs: art, philosophy, whatever it may be.
no shit, the question is one of priority. Sperging out about plaster is moronic

>U srs senpai?
Empiric, or factual knowledge. I know it foreign concept to epistemologically compromised individuals. Spare me the brain in the vat...

you write like my ex-girlfriend
and no it was not good
