Who is the male protagonist you most admire?

Who is the male protagonist you most admire?

I havent read much but I have never come across a guy in any book who is totally worth emulating. I'm tired with tragic over-philosophising romantics, who is it that bridges the gap between internal struggle and material contentment?

Musashi

This should be required reading for young men IMO

The main kid in In Praise Of Older Women

Doesn't over-think, doesn't stand in his own way, is outgoing, is knee-deep in the vagoo, has normal and adult relationships

Ahab
Dr Faustus
Macbeth

True men run themselves into the jaws of hell in a desperate chase for power or revenge.

Tim dorsey's character serge storms is pretty damn good

>Macbeth
>True man

Have we read different plays? He did only what his wife wanted him to do

1000 pages...worth the time?

Every last bit of it. Trust me the first part alone will hook you.

I concur, Musashi is amazing, took me only a week to read

Taiko is possibly even better, but that's because I like politics

Is it all fiction or is there anything you can "learn" from it?

The Old Man, from Hemingway

>He did only what his wife wanted him to do
This may come as a shock but being a good husband was a noble pursuit for most of history. What is the point being manly if you cant even keep a woman content.

Short answer is yes. I wouldn't have said it should be required reading otherwise.

Ignatious J. Reilly.

Being a good husband does not mean being a gullible fool always out to please.

You will need to be more persuasive before I start reading that

You can easily just research the book yourself.

What are power and revenge worth? Why are you wasting our time with your masturbatory male-fantasy material.

Came here to post this

A true man of action, putting degenerates in their place

Nigga you dont know what sex in the Macbeth bed was like

Came here to post this, but I see Satan had it covered already.

Kafka's K.

>what is power for

are you really that simple minded

>revenge
this is a social image thing. You take revenge so you don't look like a bitch and so people know you're not an easy target.

guess what sweetheart, shit is real
try and dismiss it all you want as male-fantasy material, you'll only appear ignorant.

>You take revenge so you don't look like a bitch and so people know you're not an easy target.

Are you still talking about Ahab? Christ you don't understand his character at all, I doubt you have the reading comprehension for a menu

Go be a child elsewhere, I am unamused.

Odysseus

Siddharta
Razumikin (not a protagonist but i just love this madman)

Pig Bodine

Have u read 48 laws of power? Hear it good, sounds like ur thing.

manchild. If you're adolescent you're excused, if you're not, HOLY FUCKING KEK

Ever seen Naked by Mike Leigh, its on youtube. its not a book but its a very Veeky Forums movie

Shinji Kubo

Patrick Bateman

>he cares about social image
>he has to prove he isn't a bitch
It is all pettiness and noise you fucking fool.

And you take revenge for justice.

"So you don't look like a bitch"? Only a bitch would say that shit.

Don Quixote desu.

>have to do the job my dad didn't want to do
>wake up every morning to do shitty bureaucrat job
>have to be a dick to everyone to fulfill dad's stupid master plan
>do this day after day
>can see into the future so I know tomorrow is gonna be the same shit all over again
>do this for 3500 years
>get transformed into a fucking worm monster
>dumb cunts won't stop worshiping me
>friends die all the time, have to keep recloning them
>have to kill myself off to fulfill secret master plan
>enemies are too dumb to do it so I help them out a bit
>finally the day comes where I can fucking die
>get thrown into water and my body dissolves around me
>fuck you dad

He was a true hero

you are a perfect example of a tool

any other protags like musashi?

any other books like musashi?

Alexei Ivanovich

Stoner. Dude has a wife who hates him but he still gets up and does his job every day without complaint even when people there hate him as well. Even in the end, he still doesn't complain, just goes about his business.

You had one fucking job

I really admire the honor of samurai I guess, Lone Wolf and Cub has a great protag. Even without the Kill the Buddha arc, he just knew his way around the world, knew how to handle things, researched instead of going in blind so he wouldn't be tricked, etc.

Sam Vimes from Discworld is good is a really nice way, like he's realistic but he would lay down his life for any of his men, would sacrifice his own life for the good of the people etc.

Paps, baby

>brilliant writer
>ladies love him
>non-ionized -- exempt, dig?

>being this insecure

You sound like the kind of guy who would get cheated on by his girlfriend, then murder the other guy.

>Implying I'm not the guy who'd murder both

You sound like the kind of guy who would get happily cucked.

how is he being a child?
pic related, its you :^)

its like holden for repressed post hippies in a liberal arts college

not saying its a bad thing, just own up to it

Self-inserts rarely exist in the Veeky Forumserature world. You should look into moeshit animes.

I'm not sure I follow

Gnossos is Holden and I'm not owning up to it?

Jesus tbqh

Patroklos.

>inb4 gay
He wasn't though, Homer's descendants from four hundred years later were projecting degenerates.

Can anyone tell me which book this user is referring to?

is the manga better or is this the best?

>emulating fictional characters

High school is over champ

meme yourself to death

Please try to hide your newfaggotry. Start with the fucking Greeks and don't come back to Veeky Forums until you do.

>Doesn't over-think, doesn't stand in his own way, is outgoing, is knee-deep in the vagoo, has normal and adult relationships
yes my goy, spend your time and energy earning money then spend your time, energy and money to be noticed by a few girls so that they let you try to make them cum, like they let dozens of boys beforehand and they will let dozens afterwards.
