Shakespeare

Why is Shakespeare so famous?

Have you read Shakespeare?

That's why.

Why are people like you on Veeky Forums

He wrote great poetry and created a lot of memorable characters.

Don't be rude

Because his willy shook like a spear, duh.

He worded good.

well*

Idk go read about it on SPARKNOTES.COM you ignorant fuck

he invented the human

True, and the human has been going downhill ever since. All those other writers are fucking his shit up.

the words were actually written by a black female nubian goddess, which means they have the power to control white devils. after shakepeares stole them the white devil came to love the word but toukght it was shakespeares who wrote them. then he be in history

actually it was egyptian nubian sorceress tho

His own image to a man with that queer thing genius is the standard of all experience, material and moral. Such an appeal will touch him. The images of other males of his blood will repel him. He will see in them grotesque attempts of nature to foretell or to repeat himself.

Because nobody wrote like him before he wrote, and almost everybody wrote like him after he wrote.

Thats a good question, why is this random author who made entertaining plays money and would often write dangerous political content still so popular and widespread? How was his shit not burnt

Because he was gay.

He didn't attack the current system or anybody of note who might have brought the shitstorm on him. He created nations that were facing the same problems that contemporary English society was as a stand-in, so the nobility watching would look at these corrupt kingdoms and realize that they needed to step up their game when they were reminded of themselves.

For the same reason we are all writing here in English.

He wrote funny shit that sometimes made people sad. That's it. People like to pretend he's all poetic and stuff, but in reality, all he did was write about shitty rich people with a few dick jokes in between scenes. The fact that people proclaim he's a genius is largely based on the fact that he got away with this.

Marlowe

Think about this: Elizabethean Era England was going through a stage of maturity. English, as a unique culture, began emerging during this time. No longer was it Norman-Anglo, but truly English. Anglicanism was the dominate religion, English became modern, and it became the dominate language. Remember, before the Elizabethean Era, the aristocracy spoke mainly French, the religion was Latin, and the Kings bowed to Rome. Around the 1600d is when England truly cemented itself as a world power.

During his life time, Shakespeare wasn't as nearly popular as he was today. Proud English historians in the 1800, looking back on the Elizabethan Era, realized they needed an icon; Shakespeare was the main choice. He's unique, mysterious, and defines the time period very well.

Since Anglo-Saxons dominated the globe, Shakespeare spread along.

In short, it's a combination of three things

1) Him being a very talented play wright

2) Historians were eager to find a true Englishman to represent an important time in English history

3) Shakespeare was at the right place at the right time

Because he invented thousands of English words due to illiteracy. So now we study the effects of a stupid man on classical theatre.
