Notes from Underground is perfectly rated. It's acknowledged not to be Dostoevsky's best work, but still pretty good. It's perfect to into Dostoevsky, just in terms of getting a sense of his style.

Grapes of Wrath isn't overrated, it's a flawless novel and perfectly balanced.

Just that the murricans read a nover in high school doesn't mean that the novel is bad or overrated.
