Required philosophical reading

I'm a philosophical ignoramus, which I want to rectify. I'm reading pic related for a start. What is Veeky Forums's required philosophical reading?

The greeks, if you don't start with the greeks you're another undergrad armchair boi.

tractatus logico philosophicus (I never read it but it has the most badass name of any philosophy book I've ever seen).

my twisted world - elliot rodger

why did you make this post? you're not funny, really. think a little about your next actions.

and don't answer me with irony, you're not funny .

Read Sartre"s huis clos (no exit). Very interesting and not very hard. Later, when you're reading Marx, you'll see how much influence he had on Sartre's philosophy.

Read "The Story of Philosophy - Bryan Magee"

Listen to a few philosophy podcasts that interest you here: bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006qykl

Read Plato's main (popular) dialogues: Euthyphro, Crito, Apology, Phaedo, Meno, Symposium, Republic, Timaeus

Use this for introductions and guidance: plato.stanford.edu/

Don't feel as if you have to read everything chronologically, however I'd recommend you at least get a wee bit familiar with these fellas for some girders: Plato, Aristotle, Descartes, Hume, Kant

You mean that it has the most dadjokelatin name.

>might is right - ragnar redbeard

absolutely will change your life.

get a load of this guy

You fucking told him!

This is far too reasonable for this board.

Phaedrus. Everything is in there.

Start with the ancients pal!
Get your hands on some Loeb Classical Library texts (as many as you can)
Plato
Aristotle
The Birth of Tragedy
I once had a decent Routledge guide to Ancient/Medieval Philosophy that gave pretty good context as well. Start at the beginning and move forward.

Just listen to the while reading Kierkegaard

Then read some Byron and fight in the Syrian War

Does Walden count as Philosophy? I really like Walden

I want to second this as really good advice. 'Start with the Greeks' turns out to be more than a meme.

This isn't a bad start but a lot of plebs, especially Veeky Forumsfags, become satisfied with stoicism and never go further.

As a girl, what book should I start with?

>people think greek philosophy is better than eastern philosophy

nigga u gay lmao

The philosophers stone

Start with the greeks, philosophy isn't gender-specific.

hegel, unless you want to wallow in prehistory.

you should start with the understanding that your gender doesn't mean shit

nah... go all the way back to the Tractatus Theologico-Politicus first

...

Is the history of western Philosophy by Bertrand Russell any good?
