It's a translation thing. There's very little benefit for slaving over the manuscripts of academics. East Asia also has its philosophy academics, its Confucians, Buddhists, Kantians, Spinozists, etc. but that stuff isn't translated.

Other people who live in Asia, whether Anglo or African or whatever, deal with the local culture - they might not like parts of it, but they don't complain every day about every little thing. But I've never met an American out here who didn't complain constantly about everything as soon as they met another non-Han face.
