Fell for the reddit Veeky Forums is shit meme for too long. Finally visited today and it is 100x better than here.
Goodbye forever.

>implying there isn't a 50pct+ overlap

lmao @ u

there are times like these where my people say auf wiedersehen, but the translation means "see you again", and since, my dear user, simply because i do not wish to see you again... to you i will say goodbye.

I actually also visited it today for the first time, and while I did find some interesting OPs, the discussions that followed were utter shit tbf

Please continue spamming DFW and being afraid to have an opinion on any contemporary author incase others condone you as a "pleb".

Wait until you say something that's even slightly a "no no thought" and get downvoted into oblivion.

Plebbit is massive enforced conformity chamber and a really scary system, if you're honest with yourself. That would be insufferable enough, but the much worse part is that SJWs (shitredditsays) are at the controls and rejiggering things to engineer people into the "correct" thinking.

But blackballing any non canonical lit is the epitome of free thinking. Nice one.

this particularly critique of the voting system is so silly. "woe is me if i knew how many people disagreed with me! i cannot handle knowing my opinion is dislike."

>taking being called a "pleb" personally and seriously

what exactly is a down vote? does it do anything? why would one care if they got down voted?

>SJWs (shitredditsays) are at the controls
lol no

They violate "the rules" constantly and are never reprimanded or removed from the site.
Their members are moderators of dozens of subreddits.
The owners have shown themselves sympathetic to SRS's views on various occasions.
For example, the /r/all algorithm gets tweaked to be "more fair" when, and only when, the_donald got traction.

That site is a giant social engineering chamber.

As strong an argument as greentexting is, you have exemplified the small amount of times that it makes you look like a spastic. Congrats.
Incase you need it explained to you, the term pleb enforces the totalitarian ideology of /lit., where no opinions outside the standard order are allowed, Calling people pleb is not so much a condemnation of that person as it is a circle jerk of people who want to fit in.

you sound like the kind of idiot who loves tortillas yecarthy. begone corncobber

They're just trying to make amends for reddit's extremely problematic history.

>spooked by totalitarian ideology
>decides the best alternative is fucking reddit
lawdy lawd

kill yourself

im just trying to figure out why you're still here, user. dont you have some karma to go collect?

Yet another great greentext argument, you really are exemplifying all Veeky Forumss strengths. I really hope you continue spouting memes and condemning all those who have an original thought to ascertain your position on an ANONYMOUS board.

Literal retard detected.
It's an issue because getting downvoted makes your post less visible. If it just meant "I don't like this" no one would really care. Reddit is an absolutely terrible platform for any sort of discussion because it comes with a system that effectively promotes censorship and herd mentalities.

litchan when?

make a sfw chan that's focused on humanities boards

We need an invite only group where people who are low level contributors are kicked. ie 99% of you tards.

I'm with OP. "For your ideas are terrifying and your hearts are faint. Your acts of pity and cruelty are absurd, committed with no calm, as if they were irresistible. Finally, you fear blood more and more. Blood and time." Cormac McCarthy

Peace out, motherfuckers

Sure is Reddit in here

No one would post there. Also fuck making it sfw

>mfw all the psueds migrate to /r/literature

good

I'm a pseud but I'm gonna stick around.

Go to bed sheep

>psued
We dont accept recognised qualifications or well reasoned arguments by anyone who isnt on our top 2 list of critics, but everyone else is the psued.
Why are you all so fucking stupid. It shouldnt irritate me but people hiding behind greentxt because they have absolutely no idea how to actually carry out a real life debate gets me.

Incoming wall of greentext replies by people whose maximum amount of wit has just been reached.

>our top 2 list of critics
Who's the other one?

I was being sarcastic but you are actually right.

This place sucks only because it's memehaven. There's no actual canon of books we like, it's a combination of near-total fracture and memes that are indecipherable from non-memes.

>misspelled pseud
>didn't get called out for my slightly ironic hypocritical mistake

Nabokov, duh

It was just a typo

>They're just trying to make amends for reddit's extremely problematic history.
I heard they were all nazi scientists too.

What are some interesting subs I should subscribe to?

>triggered

try reading your backlog first

I love that beautiful jewish buddha

I'm not gonna say because I don't want the good subs to be ruined by plebs from Veeky Forums :^)

That's like 2000 books tho orz

I know all of the good subs and they actually suck

It's not getting shorter, either, is it?

/s4s/ is smarter than both anyway.

8D

I mean I add like ten things to it between books, so..

List them fucker.

That sub sucks.

The only good sub is /r/subredditsimulator

Just try to debate me IRL and see what happens.

This has to be bait. Frontpage is currently:

Celebrating Jack London link

"How do you interpret Flannery O'Connor how do you understand what she is trying to communicate"

"Roald Dahl's perfect reader was his mother" random link

Some random canadian author dead

some vietnam reporter dying. journalism (!)

I'll stop the rest isn't better.

And half the threads have no comments

>For much of my life I've rejected what I saw as the empty careerism of my peers.

>Hi Veeky Forums, I've been going to a lacanian analyst for about 6 years now.

>Hi Veeky Forums, I've been going to a lacanian analyst for about 6 years now.

>read ligotti it's fun thanks faggots, forever a puppet now

>Claim your literary waifu! :3

Yeah this place is so much better.

please don't come back

why does he always look so bewildered?

He's never found a sufficient outlet for his enormous sexual energy.

I wonder what pooterpon was disagreeing with.

>No one would post there
This. The alternatives never take off. Veeky Forums will die and we'll still scatter and never settle on a single site to inhabit

I see your point, I rescind my original point and shall hurry back to people spamming "read the greeks" and "no discernible talent" immediately, thank you for showing me the error of my ways.

It's good to meme.

>Goodbye forever.
>still hasn't left
your layers of sarcasm must be weighing you down

If it is disliked, it isn't seen you idiot

>ask /r/books for scifi recommendation
>they recommend Ready Player One and The Martian

How long ago was this?

end of last year

People on r/literature unironically talk about how the canon is too white and that feminist/postcolonialist/queer interpretations of literature are valid.

They also agreed with that mexican guy who wrote Oscar Wao that creative writing programs are too white.

When I lurk reddit and sort by "controversial" on popular threads I see a lot of /pol/ rhetoric and also more levelheaded "racism," but r/literature is like the TA lounge in a university english department.

Also there are absolutely zero memes, semen demons, or keks. You can't post pictures at all.

Goddamnit is it easy to shill on reddit

reddit.com/r/books/comments/4q93z5/ninefox_gambit_is_military_science_fiction_for/

>Also there are absolutely zero memes, semen demons,

What books have made you pull an all nighter, Veeky Forums?

I used to do this sometimes when I was really young, but that's only because I was reading shit like Redwall that was just all cliff hangers.

Now I'd much prefer to wait another day to finish if it means having a sharper eye for detail/etc.

just woke up desu

oh you know, the usual :) hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, anything by stephen king :)

This

being this much of an assmad fellow

have fun discussing lit with people who've never read anything other than scifi/fantasy or YA and think hitchhiker's guide and ender's game are the be all end all of reading. this place is shit but at least there's actually discussion sometimes and people dive deeper into lit than the shit you read in high school

lol dude why are you so triggered? Did someone from here roast you for being a redditor or something? Nobody really cares, most people on here visit the site. It is just a shitty community that circlejerks and suppresses dissenting opinions, which is basically the antithesis of this community (well, except for the circlejerking). If you want to leave, then just leave and stop being a faggot

The only good subs are the porn ones

he was disagreeing with the idea that it's ok to force a Russian cab driver to agree that gay marriage is ok by threatening not to pay him unless he admits it

Why are you still here? You said you were leaving

I could believe reddit being that stupid.

and boy howdy are there some good ones

In fact it's the only part of reddit that's better than Veeky Forums

Reddit's lit board is much much better than here but it's also slow as fuck

/r/literature isn't like that

Which ones are you thinking of?

I know, I like /r/literature and visit it sometimes, problem is it's pretty dead and the vast majority of posts have few comments. It is worthwhile to search within the subreddit for past discussions on books/authors though

not him but /r/blowjobsandwich is pretty good

reddit.com/r/books/wiki/amafullschedule

They have a schedule for shills.

>us book lovers

...

Reddit is way too circle jerk for me, but sometimes it can be useful. I have learned much more from Veeky Forums, I can't remember the last time I was on r/books or the like.

lol jesus christ

There's no point in reading Joyce unless it's heavily annotated, or you have a guidebook that will explain the references and allusions that go right over your head.

takes too much effort to post and reply on reddit

George Steiner.

not really.. all you have to do is make an account, which takes like one click. in fact posting is less effort than Veeky Forums because no captcha

I disagree, Dubliners and Portrait are easily read without supplemental material. Ulysses I would recommend something like that (my edition had 200-300 pages of endnotes) but it's by no means necessary. No one had a guidebook when Ulysses came out and first acquired its reputation.

Joyce was well aware of what he was doing, writing a book many people wouldn't fully understand. Yea, I know, it's a "masterpiece". I'm just not really interested in something like that.
