How do you choose what book to read?

How do you choose what book to read?

Based on your preferences and interests. Also the sticky helps a lot.

what a qt

authors give me hints when i read their books what i should read next. then I make a list and order it based on my current tastes, then I go and find similar works based on the ones the authors have shown me, to fill in the gaps. then I toss all that up and read whatever's on my wall.

Make a list. Stick to it.

i want to cuddle washeekuvska

Read what i feel like, stop reading what bores me, read the influences of people i already liked and more of their stuff.

What makes you feel?

goodreads.
When something interests me, I put it on my to-read list. And when the lists is empty for some reason, I browse the rest of the page to fill it up again. Also having friends, that also read, helps keeping that list full.

I stick my hand in the box and pull one out. After verifying that it is a stand alone or introductory volume, I read it.

a die roll

When I was a student, I simply had to read what was available in second-hand bookstores. Now I usually pick in each book bibliography, ask a well-read friend or my bookseller. I mostly read non-fiction and dead authors so having a reliable critic isn't too hard.

>reading according to a self-made list
way to get cucked by yourself

I have 100+ books in my to-read list because some just seem to enticing not to put on. How do I stop this behavior?

>Stick to it

but that's wrong

Follow lists like pic related, it's much nicer to have a list to read where everything you read beforehand helps you understand the harder works.

I read what sounds like it could help me on a current project.

Instinct.

Wasikowska was so hot in that movie, with unshaved legs and pits and all.

Blindfold myself and sprint into the library with my fingers ready to grab some dank books. First one I snizzity-snatch prior to being escorted off the property is what I read.

this never works

>implying i actually read books

kys, faggot

the "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought" selection of books at the bottom of an Amazon page is a huge help. Pic related, just bought it.

>be on the internet researching my interests
>a book gets mentioned
>look into it
>if it seems worthwhole, read it

Being alive.

That sounds awful.

Were you buying Bad Dragons again?

Works fine for me. I don't see the issue. Plus, you feel much more productive if you're already a piece of shit.

depend on the mood I am. I usually don't read happy books though, but I try to go with the ones I can learn something from.
If I feel my mind is bored I choose a bit more difficult book/classic whatever. After this I tend to go for some fantasy/sci-fi If I want some easier read. If I read some very depressing shit, there is no chance I am going to read that kind of stuff again for months because I'd get suicidal.

>The current year
>Not printing out all of the Veeky Forums reading charts
>Not stripping naked laying them all out on the floor
>Not spinning around and around until you get dizzy and fall over
>Not choosing the book that the tip of your penis lands on

Fucking plebs.

But the lists have thousands of book, a lot of them look nice.
How do I choose from them?

and step on it

browsing books .. judging by cover an title and author .. reading first few pages .. if liked then start reading it

with the tip of your penis.

make a shelf called "interested in" and move there everything you don't intend to read in the next 3 months.

>make a list
>don't check it twice
pleb

First I read a synopsis online, if it's not retard or boring I'll read it

I have a list of shit that I've seen mentioned here or on other places. That and if I like something by a particular author, I'll go through at least 2 more of their books assuming they have more.

No, I was just picking up a classic I've wanted to read for some time now

All the books I come across and like I write down and when I finish a book I go to my list and pick one out

I look at the level of discourse of its discussion.

That girl gives me so many feels.... generally though I make a stack of books and don't stray from it or make a list and buy and read them one by one. There's always a new one I'm reading and some more just to have something to do

This. It's not hard to keep a trim, manageable to read list, so long as you aren't adding shitty books to it all the time.
This is a great idea.
