Because we live in a infantilized society.
It checks all of the kitsch boxes without having been done before.

>tfw hearing adults have intense debates about superheroes
Nerds have taken control, for too long now.
There must be a nerd holocaust, for society to evolve.
because its market range is way wider than both traditional action movies and regular kid movies.
seriously.
this makes sense
>/tv/ doesn't understand board titles
>simple dichotomy of characters who are to be considered good and evil
>can be adressed as actions movies while disguised as character dramas
>decades of source material content has already been written
>easy formulaic plot structures that can be recycled without normies really noticing
>Easily digestible for children while still being entertaining for adults
Daredevil was actually a very good show.
there is always some generic shit that dominates the market. Are you aware of how many cookie cutter Westerns there were in the 50s and 60s? Most of them are boring as fuck, too
daredevil would be OK if it didn't have that shitty magical ninja subplot.
punisher and kingpin were great but whats the point when its diluted with shit like elektra and stick
>our time
Fuck no. This is yours to be blamed for alone, America.
We just watch whatever dog shit you throw at us because of cultural imperialism. You created this demand.
When I was a child we played with pine cones and it was perfectly sufficient.
Eventually we got some fucking great westerns though. Maybe in a decade we'll get great superhero films
saturday morning cartoons demonstrate how powerful mass media is for propaganda purposes.
its what the past generation grew up on, watching hours a day, every day for a decade
Gods, kings and great warriors have all faded into the past, so people turn to fictional substitutes to satisfy their need for someone to look up to.
Also infantilisation of culture.
>muh realism
Its a fucking comic book show about a blind catholic who fights crime at night, dude. Bring on the undead ninja stuff.
Also the Punisher is a shit one-note character for dudebros and edgy schoolboys.
A most alarming development for anyone interested in the collective and Utopian dimensions of popular culture. Here we have a generation of politically neutered, degree-holding "activists" demanding greater representation in the media as though it were the vote on the one side, and on the other the sweaty, overgrown man children of the alt- and increasingly mainstream right on the other. And yet somehow they can all agree on the unqualified greatness and even importance of the Superhero Movie. Demanding little attention and even less investment, it surely plays into the infantilizing tendencies of the culture industry already observed in this thread, but it seems to me something more sinister is at work in the realm of political action, or rather, as regards its utter disintegration. For today we are given to understood that participation in hashtag is a political act, that the amassing of followers and the boosting of signals of injustice is revolutionary, that praxis is to be found in tapping and stroking our egos as they are congealed into the pixels on our tiny screens. The Ego: indeed the dominant category of politics today, for #BlackLivesMatter does not bemoan the deaths of "Blacks as such," but the death of Trayvon Martin, among other individuals like him. What we are seeing, in short, is not collectivized party action, but a sort of statistical motion of monadic egos. A cloud of narcissistic molecules, drifting according to the same wind. Thus it is that today our hero is no longer the everyman, but the superman we all believe ourselves to be, the lone hero wielding the power we all imagine ourselves to wield when, like heat rays blazing forth from our eyes, we send off our idiotic opinions into the cloud, to bounce like light rays off our fellows particles who, forgetting the sensation of original thought, take a retweet to be a production, sans "re."
The Untermensch, incapable of becoming Übermensch, seeks escapism. Through superheroes, they obtain freedom through the suspension of disbelief in their ow inferiority.
You mean it combines those two, it's not "much wider". Or, in other words, it's action movies for kids, where kids means most adults under the age of 35.

Holy fuck where do you live i wanna fite u irl
I know it sucks to be told that the shit you're eating tastes bad.
I like superheroes and think their trials and tribulations can make for wonderful storytelling. When done properly, something like Kingdom Come, it taps into something so grandiose, I find it on par with the great stories of elder mythologies. My problem with the recent batch of superhero films is that they're so fucking bland and inoffensive, as of they were produced on an assembly line. I find it telling that the most ambitious cape films of recent years, like Man of Steel (though I haven't seen BvS yet), have been met with the most lukewarm, if not flat-out negative, reactions.
true
What shows do you like, user
same reason as the stories of the Trojan war
envy, awe
Elements of justice in parallel with power appeal to "minorities" and dweebs.
>tinfoil hat theories from Simon Pegg being posted by a tripfag
say that 2 my face not ur computer n see what happens
True but that was more of a result of budgets, westerns were cheap to make, whereas they are pouring money into superhero films
>Marxist theory
>Tinfoil
That's not much of a rebuttal. Markets are defending themselves by fattening us up.
Your thoughts on the election fraud in the US presidential race?
>Your thoughts on the election fraud in the US presidential race?
there's no evidence of fraud, that's just something bernie supporters made up when they realized that the democratic party is a party of the bourgeoisie that just does not want them
So you believe in legalized fraud. I see.
Tinfoiler bougie
you're just genuinely retarded, aren't you
