Why is western society moving more towards liberal/atheistic standpoints? Why do these so often tend to go hand in hand also why do they believe all these beliefs are just 'logical' or 'common sense'
Why is western society moving more towards liberal/atheistic standpoints...
Atheists are easier to control and put in gulags.
fuck off. go be disingenuous somewhere else. post about books.
do you have proof of this?
what may be considered liberal/progressive in one era (see: eugenics, temperance in the early 20th century) can be seen as utterly conservative and religious in others.
all these terms are relative, there is no ongoing 'march of progress' there are only humans who try and order and make sense of the chaos
It's the side of progress, man.
Democracy is predicated on having an informed populous.
The American school system is one of the worst in the world, and the American media feels no obligation to inform or educate.
We have a gullible citizenry, an impotent government, and the internet offers a tyrannical voice to anyone stupid enough to want it.
And personally, I find the Tyranny of the People is scarier than any sort of tyranny a government has cooked up.
There's a meme in society of some kind of entrepreneurial post-capitalist industrial-scientific "productivity" thing, and they are expressing the meme because they are demi-conscious memebuoys floating on a slurry sea of currents you can only see if you zoom out
It's exhausting even trying to give an answer to this question. You need to like phenomenologically bracket every single word and write a book explaining that they aren't even people. They aren't even conscious. They aren't even having "opinions". STEM people are like robots with human skin stretched over them. To say "they are dismissive of the humanities" is implicitly to admit I think there's a "they". STEM people don't even fucking exist. They are a statistical gaseous nebula of random particles wafting across continents and periodically expressing junk they picked up along the way. Why would you even talk to them?
Talking to a STEMfag is literally like being some kind of Buddha, ascending reality, then coming back down and talking to bees who were dudes in past lives. I'm sure these bee niggas can be saved or whatever, but let's just wait until they're back in human form. Don't walk around going "BEES, STOP BUZZING, PUT DOWN THAT POLLEN, LISTEN TO ME ABOUT HOW EVERY CONCEPTUAL CATEGORY YOU HAVE FOR EVEN THINKING OF THINGS WAS SHAPED FOR YOU BY AN UNCONSCIOUS SLUDGE OF MEMETIC POLYALLOY THAT FLOWS IN PREDICTABLE CURRENTS FROM YEAR TO YEAR THROUGH THE HIVE IN WHICH YOU WERE CONCEIVED"
I personally think that "atheism" in today's society is part of the social trend of being "rational human beings"... I'm a teacher and most of my students (both teenagers and adults) say the same pathetic reasons arguing that believing in god is not rational. In addition, I don't think that people are atheist, they have distanced from religion but not god or any other theist expression of something beyond our comprehension. Most people want to be socially accepted so that they claim and convince themselves that they are atheists; nevertheless, because of this they try to join or form other groups were they can be accepted
In America something like 70% of people are (at least culturally) Christian, if anything you claim some basic level of belief and go through the motions if you want to fit in.
