long way to get there buddy

>The analytical machine took just 10 minutes to compare the patient's genetic changes with a database of 20 million cancer research papers, delivering an accurate diagnosis
But, you can't deny the fact that this is pretty impressive and shows a glimpse into what the future may be like.
you mean AI for sexbots?
No I think he means AI for replacing doctors.
Why would you make that jump to sexbots ? How are the 2 skills of recognizing a disease and sex be related ?
Said it before and Ill say it again.
Until a computer can be held liable for malpractice, AI will never replace doctors. Trial lawyers would never allow it because then they wouldnt have anyone to sue.
But it is nice to have a robot around to help tertiary care centers diagnose ultra rare diseases
>medfag
>database of 20 million cancer research papers
Well done to the AI for writing all of those
>The analytical machine took just 10 minutes to compare the patient's anatomy with a database of 20 million sexual research papers, delivering a mind-blowing orgasm
I believe the machine uses a general-purpose learning algorithm. You feed data - it learns how to do it. If it can learn to play chess, be a doctor, among other things, I see no reason why It can't learn how to be a pleasure machine.
What's your source for watson being able to play chess and "other things" ?
Is IBM trying to do a AGI like deepming too ?
I mean doctors a basiclly guys, who know a lot of stuff about human body and can find what happened to them, so they got ill. Its really a hard task but becouse humans body is so complex. But AI can overcome that complexness so he can be a better doctor anyway.
It becomes a little bit harder with surgeons tho.

>IBM Watson is a technology platform that uses natural language processing and machine learning to reveal insights from large amounts of unstructured data
>Watson is a question answering computer system capable of answering questions posed in natural language
It can't play chess, I mistook it for the previous IBM machine that could play chess. Watson was the one that played Jeopardy!. But, the answer is still yes - kinda. Both DeepMind and IBM are talking a similar approach. Feed it data, until it learns what to do. Though they have the different goals I guess. DeepMind is all about using the data for answering medical questions, for example.
>When were you when doctors were replaced?
When these results can be reproduced reliably across the whole variety of diseases. It's not that easy.
>Until a computer can be held liable for malpractice
This is nonsense. Nobody will convict a doctor of malpractice if it was a difficult call to make. Same goes for machines.

>In a robotic surgery breakthrough, a bot stitched up a pig’s small intestines using its own vision, tools, and intelligence to carry out the procedure. What’s more, the Smart Tissue Autonomous Robot (STAR) did a better job on the operation than human surgeons who were given the same task.

>But new researcher on robotic surgery for prostate cancer suggests that, despite the oft-perceived benefit having a robot-assisted operation, humans and machines are pretty much equal when it comes to a patient’s recovery months after surgery.
Of course, you're still right though. This is just a proof of concept and it still has a way to go. But it's getting there.
Deepmind is trying to solve intelligence. Making AGI in effect. Their's a ton of applications and one of them is medical questions too (eye stuff).
IBM's Watson seems different to me. It's definitely not what you implied it was or was even designed to be. It's just a very smart Q and A machine. Pretty boring to me.
They are both very different projects.
So as I wrote, it's not what the first guy implied. Watson can diagnose and do other things, but it has no aim to be genral in the sense of doing chess etcetera.
Deepmind is much more exciting.
Yes, the legal definition if malpractice requires a deviation from the standard of care. A computer could easily be designed to not violate the standard of care.
I am thriled, lots of people die and suffer becouse real doctors sometimes can just dont know about illness or what to do with it, which is perfectly normal becouse a human cant know everything. He probably never heard of this stuff. But AI with universal database WILL know everything humanity ever witnessed, and probably can even cure something humanity NEVER witnessed, couse he will find some pattern, people wont be able to notice.
Thats just... like dream. I hope we dont fuck this up.
Well, you dont need more that a very smart Q and A machine to replace normal doctors. Its great just by itself.
You're right, but I prefer a machine that can be a doctor play chess, be a pleasure machine and everyhting else.
Watson isn't that and deepmind is trying to do that.
It's just weird that thought about sexbots when watson has nothing to do with general intelligence or sex.
>deepmind is trying to do that.
>a machine that can be a doctor play chess, be a pleasure machine and everyhting else.
No.
Yes.
>cross-correlating the orgasms of 20 millions weaboos to achieve the perfect anime induced fap
I can't wait for this future.
This is not about original published scientific work being replaced. This type of thinking and work will take a very long time to be replaced. This is about some doctors doing a job (diagnostics) that is dependent on memorising diseases and checking for symptoms and underlying causes, some cases of which can be vastly accelerated or accomplished only by computers, as demonstrated by this example.
I know, thats much better, but we will have Q and A doctor machine soon-ish.
Strong AI on the other hand...
>Smug Doctor
This is why I dropped medicine
There's no stopping this

For fuck's sake Google, you do all this cool shit and then pull a stunt like this....
>Until a computer can be held liable for malpractice
Then just sue the ass of the hospital using the AI, the company that develops the AI, the company that sells the AI, really anyone at any point coming into contact with the AI can become liable for being sued into oblivion.
a computer doesn't commit malpractice, user
This is not within our lifetimes. such AI would only be in advisory roles. Much like the pilots in planes, with an auto-pilot which can essentially do all the work.
I can't wait until computer start taking high IQ jobs like doctors and lawyers.
>Watson was the one that played Jeopardy
Watson that diagnosed cancer has pretty much nothing to do with Watson that played Jeopardy. It's an umbrella term IBM uses for everything vaguely related to machine intelligence.
