>hire an agency to do the formatting (no you can't do that on your own)
>hire an artist on devianart to do the cover (one of the most if not the most important part of selling it - stay under 500 in budget but get someone who has a following and has worked on other commercially succesfull books before)
>now let's get to business:
>create a facebook page. Buy a couple thausands likes.
>make a website on squarespace where you have about twenty articles about your and/or the book
>activate promotion on posts.
>a month before release spam one article on your facebook page every day
>activate post promotion
>put the book up on amazon. Make it a free download for the first week or two
>buy a couple of thousands downloads

Because for amazon 1 free download = 1 purchase, If the advertising has been done correctly and you put the right description and the right keywords this will most likely put you in bestsellers for the week.
Once you're there amazon will start aggresively advertising you into the mails of potentially interest customers, and they're very good at their job.

Actually let me explain myself a little better.
The reason why we buy facebook likes and we promote the book is that people brought in this way have been brought in specifically to try the free download once the book will come out. If you're famous on twitter because of your half-naked selfies, that doens't mean people will be tempted to try your free ebook. I'd say do the whole articles about you once a day every day and judge by the reaction
