You know something I just found out?

All of Joyce's three major novels have been adapted into film.

None.

>we will never see Blood Meridian directed by Stanley Kubrick

James franco has the rights to blood meridian. If you've seen his adaptation of the sound and the fury (Faulkner) or child of God (mcarthy) you'll know that this is really bad news.

Personally I don't think blood meridian could be adapted into a decent movie (not just because of the level of violence)....... however Suttree would be fantastic and I actually think franco would be decent in the lead role.

>James franco has the rights to blood meridian

oh god cormac why

Let me turn that around -

I did not know that Cormac McCarthy wrote the screenplay for The Counselor.

I caught it on TV thinking it's a typical Hollywood shitfest (it features a few big actors) but it's surprisingly dark, and it doesn't really feel like a movie. It was critically panned but I assume because it's too... I don't know, it doesn't flow like a movie at all. Maybe in 10 years it will have some kind of underground following.

Money

>James franco has the rights to blood meridian

No he doesn't, Scott Rudin does.

The history of the rights to blood meridian is interesting. Ridley Scott used to have them but decided it would be unfilmable. I think franco approached him to collaborate on the project recently and ridley said "no franco!". I think he wanted Russell Crowe to start as the judge.

Back on topic - I'd like to see train dreams by denis Johnson adapted. Also i've read several George Saunders short stories that I thought would be fantastic (Matt Damon, playing an over weight Philip Seymour Hoffman starring in the 400 pound ceo).

There will be blood is definitely one of my favourite adaptations..... But my most bestest favorite adaptation was Houston's adaptation of flannery o'Connors "lifeblood".

I'd be interested in other people's favorite movies based on books

My bad. Not as up to date with movie news as I used to be.

Who's scott rudin?

>lifeblood

Fucking iphone autocorrect

He produced No Country For Old Men

The book of job starring Adam Sandler

No Country was great as a film. Coen Brothers are fucking based.

I just watched the trailer for The Sound and the Fury... Seth Rogan and Danny McBride in it... Franco as Benjy? God...

Thank god

Could it be done? Who directs? Who do you cast?

I think J R would be hilarious

I think Alejandro G. Iñárritu could do it great, really want to see him directing it

bump for more books than could be good films

Why Kubrick?

I want to see a Murakami directed by Malick.

...

infinite jest

Wouldn't that just be Monogatari Series Second Season?

>Tim Burton
>staring... Johnny Depp

HBO mini-series based on "savage detectives" by bolano.

Joaquín (Quim) Font - Benicio Del Toro
Ulises Lima - (a younger) Adrian brody
Arturo belano - Gael García Bernal
Juan García Madero - guy that played "pedro" in Napoleon dynamite.
Font sisters - both played by miley cyrus
Lupe - pornstar belladonna
>Octavio paz - Luis fucking Guzmán

Amadeo Salvatierra - Mark Margolis
Cesárea Tinajero - tilda Swindon with a tan

Directed by - guy who did city of God.

I'm going to kill myself because if this

I think the Navidson files could be an amazing movie but the whole of house of leaves is hard to imagine as anything other than a book

I think a movie of the crying of lot 49 if in the right hands would be more enjoyable than the book. I have never felt this way about any other book but it's all I could think of after finishing it. Not sure what director could pull it off though. The length of the book really lends itself to having the movie be completely shot for shot the book.

Bump

>You will never see Stanley Kubrick's Napoleon, a movie that would have Actually Been Good

HBO is making a mini series based off of it

>Monogatari Series
i don't know what this is desubh

I'm going to kill myself because if this
