Is it a scam?

Is it a scam?

Will it ever happen?

>Is it a scam?
Yes.
>Will it ever happen?
No.

Why do you think it's a scam?

yeah, what's so strange about a small t.v producer company setting a colony on mars?

are you kidding me?
The apollo program, which was a much MUCH more simple and humble endeavour costed like 120 billions in 2015 dollars (adjusted for inflation).

thats

120.000.000.000 U$S

do you know a company that can invest that much money?

even more, do you think they can gain a profit after investing that?

if you do youre an idiot of forever

No, I got some good laughs at the people applying.

>my gf broke up with me
>my life is in shambles
>please send me to mars so she'll take me back

>I got pregnant at 16
>I work 3 jobs to support Dequandro's kids
>send me to mars because I'm a strong, hard working single mother with a GED

That was with very inefficient technology

>what is crowd funding

When did the technology arrive to make a mars mission fairly cheap, I must have missed it

>crowd funding
>upwards of 500 billion USD
cant tell if sarcastic

pure scam

Irrelevant

Do you know how much it would have cost to make an iPhone in the 1960s? How much does it cost now?

>what is crowd funding
A scam, we already went over this!

uh it would have been impossible to make an iphone in 1960s...

A friend of mine who is a grad student in the same department as me is one of the final candidates. They've told her nothing beyond what is public but she's still delusional enough to believe it will happen. I don't think it's a scam but it's not happening.

uh you're a sick faggot and you raped your cat

If it wasn't for mass production it would cost roughly the same.

Do you see anyone mass producing rockets?

Anything that involves Elon Musk in some way or another is a scam. Mars One wanted to use SpaceX technology to build a colony on Mars in the 2020's when those hicks can't even reliably launch a satellite in Earth orbit in 2016.

One thing i haven't seen being brought up is how they are going to service the station. Spare parts and relevant upgrades would take shit long to ship there. Have they mentioned how they would solve this?

>Anything that involves Elon Musk in some way or another is a scam

oh so
-Tesla
-Paypal
-Objectively superior rockets of spacex

all of that is just something false that makes no profit and elon musk mantains it by pouring his money into it?, he has countles billion to waste on that kind of shit?

>-Objectively superior rockets of spacex

I guess someone hasn't been reading the news

kek

>those hicks can't even reliably launch a satellite in Earth orbit in 2016.

kek

compared to what?
boeing "the biggest killer of the world of all history forever and ever"??

oh right, compared to everyone they win

>-Objectively superior rockets of spacex
Yes, in all objectivity, they are vastly superior at destroying their payload

nah mate, ula is way better, keep killing astroanuts

i get it man its a different philosphy

we spacex superior swj good guys like rockets that go to orbit

and you ula inferiors prefer killing people in huge pains, its allright i get it you like failure

I read somewhere that there have been 40 missions to Mars so far, and only 16 have succeeded (in the sense that the probe reached Mars and sent back information). Those are not encouraging odds.

Lol, no, why would you compare Falcon 9 to the Space Shuttle? That's really stupid.

A better comparison would be Falcon 9 vs Atlas. Atlas has had a perfect record since 1993. Atlas makes Falcon 9 look like it was designed by a bunch of back woods hicks.

Oh, it's you again

Atlas II-V >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Falcon 9

ULA 4 ever

One thing I've always wondered is how fucked those people are going to be after the trip there, the stint on Mars, and the trip back. Would all that low gravity fuck their bodies up?

>how fucked those people are going to be after the trip there

Very.

>Trip back

There isn't going to be a trip there in the first place.

>Would the low gravity fuck their bodies up?

Most likely wouldn't be able to walk after landing.

DOA

At best, they'll reach Mars' orbit

They won't touchdown
