Okay.

This will effect me in 40-50 years from now how?

Since it's the second one they've found this year I'm going to assume these aren't dyson sphere's, but something else probably.

Just a coincidence imo

Actually that article seems to be saying they've got a reasonable solution to why it's dimming and that the same solution could be applied to the other one.

The solution ain't aliens btw.

>Dyson spheres are very nice, but leave little research and a lot of imagination... We must keep watching...

What is the distance of this star relative to our planet?

the more we find, the more likely they are natural phenomenon

why?

Not him, but it's easier to explain away with natural phenomena than it is artificial.

The likelihood of species that has mastered the solar system is far less than just atypical natural bodies surrounding the star.

>The likelihood of species that has mastered the solar system is far less than just atypical natural bodies surrounding the star.

Life emerged and became intelligent relatively quickly on earth

The universe is old as fuck

There could be a lot of super powerful aliens out there. In fact we should really do what we can to prevent them from finding us. If there are aliens, that means there are alien politicians.

Aliens are a possible cause of these things. But something much more boring is far more likely.

...

It took about 1/3 of the entire lifespan of the universe for life on earth to become intelligent

it doesn't matter untill we have Warp Drives, and to get warp drives and ships capable of putting them to good use we need lots of fucking things
>usefull hidrogen fussion reactors
>decent quantum computers
>lots of improvements to life support systems
>anti-matter (this one's gonna be the one that fucks us)

And even then we don't know if they'd work, worth a try tho

It had all the opportunities and resources it needed for hundreds of millions of years. That's the potential developmental timescale difference we're dealing with when considering alien cultures, assuming similar starting conditions as our solar system.

>It had all the opportunities and resources it needed for hundreds of millions of years.
Wut?

Brains aren't exactly a recent phenomenon, regarding life as a whole.

Nobody has claimed a single "natural" explanation for Tabby's Star that has held up thus far. We know planets are common as fuck, so what reason is there to assign a low probability to the existence of aliens? None whatsoever.

Incorrect, one of the leads at kepler literally stated the probability of it being aliens vs one of the other explanations are equal at this stage.

>Named EPIC
It's like they don't want to be taken seriously.

That seems a bit like media clickbait. Was there anything behind it?

its 50/50, either its aliens or its not.

>In fact we should really do what we can to prevent them from finding us.
Fuck that shit nigga, they should be the ones fearing us. MAGA!
