Von Neumann's accomplishments?

WTF did he actually do or is just a meme

imagine being so smart that you can look at any subject and find something new and important to add to it virtually over night

Kittie out, Veeky Forums is daunting task endevor.

would you say he is one of the top 50 mathematicians of the 20th century?

>what did he do
everything

David Blackwell when talking about his thesis

"He (von Neumann) listened to me talk about this rather obscure subject and in ten minutes he knew more about it than I did."

top50 of all time

This, holy shit tho

>Von Neumann architecture

He did not design the Von Neumann architecture. He visited UPenn and inspected an already functional computer with this architecture. He then wrote a report describing it, and abstracting it somewhat from the exact implementation.

On the other hand he got brain cancer in his 40s.

Clearly there is something wrong with high intelligence.

>brain cancer
>While there is a general agreement that the initially discovered bone tumor was a secondary growth, sources differ as to the location of the primary cancer. While Macrae gives it as pancreatic, the Life magazine article says it was prostate.
Wiki.

he's often rated as ~10th greatest mathematician of all time, and very likely one of the smartest people to ever live, if not the smartest.

considering only raw intellect/potential, he's probably far above even newton.

>explosive lenses
wat

for nuclear warheads

neumann was pivotal in many aspects in the cold war

>one of the smartest people to ever live, if not the smartest.
>von Neumann
>smarter than Einstein

implying Einstein was smart

>Be Einstein
>Take ten years to make a theory

He was a super-human. We should clone him desu.

Good job copying and pasting from Wikipedia

So what?

you mean lenses for viewing atomic explosions?

>you mean lenses for viewing atomic explosions?
Are you legally retarded?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Explosive_lens

>the Life magazine article says it was prostate.
neumann confirmed wizard saving his mana

i had no clue what they were either lol

not even sure what neumann did with them but it was apparently a big deal and required for the development of the bombs

he was the first to implement a computer with it though

he was a genius

u better be trolling with the Einstein meme.

90% of them are entirely based on other researchers and mathematicians hard work. Von Neumann didn't do shit.

gtfo

mathematicians build up on other mathematicians

doesn't mean he didn't do shit

Writing your own name after someone elses work is called fraud, thats why Neumann got never popular. Whoever spamming these neumann threads should get used to that fact.

+1 for the effort

Claiming he didn't accomplish anything is the new latest unfunny Veeky Forums meme.

>d-dont you insult my waifu
ahahahahahaha

>Von Neumann's accomplishments?
Literally nothing worthy

Everyone in science then is a fraud.

Love when contrarians spout their contrarian memes with zero evidence.

Neumann is the literal meme-person. Same tier as Jacob barnett and Wildberger

I guess he didn't have much time to masturbate.

>Brainlet died from prostate
This brainlet also died as kissless virgin ? poor little mr potatohead :)

he has married with children. he was neurotypical.

sure it was his children ;)

>von Neumann's daughter was a former member on the "Steering Committee" of the Bilderberg Group

what does it mean

> implying you're smarter than einstein

If he is so smart, why is he dead?

I do that all the time. Immediately see something and know it better or have a complementary idea to make it complete.

Unfortunately I'm surrounded by morons who either don't understand or are jelly.

Among them:
>inspired by surreal numbers, I invented absurd numbers;
>I wrote an automatic theorem prover in PHP, my rationale was that most proofs run into combinatorial explosion and when we use a slow language the explosion happens later;
>the Pitrowski Set is named after me (that is the set of natural numbers between 3 and 33 -- nobody claimed that set for themselves so I did it) and I intend to commercialize it by charging license fees from everyone who uses numbers from it;
>I invented the Pitrowski Probe, that's like a von Neumann probe, just painted red to warn people about the presence of a self-replicating space probe.

FUCK

OFFFFFF

This.

...

BOOM. Roasted.

I invented my own set called the "Bourbinski set" consisting of the set of all numbers divisible by 8 whose successor is not a prime. This is relevant to the "Bourbinski topology", which is the Zariski topology except better.

This is all in addition to my contribution to the theory of prime numbers, wherein I use Euclid's proof of the infinitude of primes to derive the very important corollary that there are at least 412 primes.

he was a genius 10fold

can he ever recover ?

umad, idiot?

You can see the obscure nature of autism in his eyes

>pointless topology

Is there any other kind?

lol

>>Von Neumann also claimed to prove that deterministic “hidden variables” cannot underlie quantum phenomena. This influential result pleased Niels Bohr and Heisenberg and played a strong role in convincing physicists to accept the indeterminacy of quantum theory. In contrast, the result dismayed Albert Einstein, who refused to abandon his belief in determinism. (Ironically, Irish-born physicist John Stewart Bell demonstrated in the mid-1960s that von Neumann’s proof was flawed; Bell then fixed the proof’s shortcomings, reaffirming von Neumann’s conclusion that hidden variables were unnecessary.

von Neumann BTFO by a mick

>his living heir is a dentist

What a memeing fucking Jew.

kek

BROH

Topologies make everything easier. The usual theorems on R^n are cumbersome without them.

GET SHREKT

Its what op should have done to begin with, doof

A few of this are bullshit,
>Pointless topology
Grothendieck was the one doing this stuff, he just gave the witty name.

>Grothendieck was the one doing this stuff, he just gave the witty name.
>just
>Grothendieck born in 1928.
>Neumann dead in 1957.
Prove it.

He's likely the largest contributor to the existence of the home computer.

>John Stewart Bell
ulster man. basically scottish, like kelvin

he was a perfect example of ashkenazi jewish brilliance
