Why can animals eat all the rotten meat, dirty food, and LITERAL shit they want, but we'll become deathly sick if we try to eat raw meat

>we'll become deathly sick if we try to eat raw meat

But this is false

Civilization makes you a pussy.

Nitpicking aside, it doesn't answer the question

Animals can still eat literal feces loaded with bacteria and not get sick

So can we really

ex-butcher turned scientist here

not true famillion - i used to eat raw meat regularly. Needs to be fresh. Real, real fresh.

Would only do it when an extremely fresh carcass came in, started doing it because i noticed this greek dude used to bring a bowl of breadcrumbs to work, cube up the primest piece of rib fillet and roll it in crumbs and consume.

fucking good desu

No we can't

Being a generalist omnivore rather than a specialist species or maybe we became smart enough to not need to (or had the need to not) waste as much energy on the immune system as a trade off over evolutionary time frames?

this user has been cucked by his BBQ

yes we can nigga

Eat your shit then fool
When you get sick don't blame me

We actually can, to the same extent other animals can at least

Can pigs really survive on nothing but literal shit? Pigs can eat anything yeah but that seems wrong.

Does it taste anything like cooked meat? Describe

no

yeah it does, it tastes like a rare steak but mega soft and juicy

its fucking delicious imho

wouldnt make a meal out of it, but a bit is nice

>dont go out and start eating raw meat though please user
>it needs to be crazy fresh
>fresher than when it gets to the consumer

there is a german dish called mett which is pretty damn good, but when it comes to raw meat i will generally only eat red

same user here; the best fish i have ever had was a parrotfish on a tropical island, literally only dead about 5 minutes, thinly sliced and basted in lime juice and cane sugar

acidic marinades will make most raw meat alot safer to eat, and you still get the rawness of it coming through.

something animalistic about it just appeals to me. on a shitload of cocaine i shot a springbok through the neck in africa, chased it down across the sand dunes with a knife and drank its blood straight from the wound

>this user has been cucked by his BBQ

Can't wait for lab grown meat to catch on so we can start eating raw meat.

humans have less acidic stomachs and shorter intestines that evolved to consume cooked foods.

>Why can animals eat all the rotten meat, dirty food, and LITERAL shit they want, but we'll become deathly sick if we try to eat raw meat

Humans can eat any raw meat fish, snails, pig, cow, chicken, etc...

They eat the meat fresh where as we dont.

But more importantly where is there evidence of most animals being able to eat rotten and/or dirty food? I dont believe it. Sure there are some animals, but most would get sick if they ate rotten food.

>there is a german dish called mett
I wouldn't call it a dish. It's just raw ground meat with spices that is used as a spread.

You can eat raw meat.

As to rotten meat, there's not much of a difference between people and most animals (excluding vultures etc.). Rotten foods are actually not as bad for you as one might think, even with visible mold, most of the time nothing will happen (tastes like shit though obviously).

People don't eat rotten things because we know that there is a chance we might get very sick. I had dogs that got really sick out of rotten stuff they found somewhere and ate.

you're all going for the low hanging fruit.

sure humans can eat some raw meat, but why not answer this:
>Why can animals eat all the rotten meat,

what do the stomachs of scavengers do that ours don't?

No pigs need lots of real food. Did you really think that if something eats its shit over and over, it will gain mass?

you're disgusting

Ever hear of this thing called sushi or sashimi?

Their stomachs are better adapted, you stupid nigger. Read up on vulture stomachs, they can produce 0 pH stomach acid. Shit's stronk.

You whitebois also have weak immune systems. If you sissies grew up in a proper 3rd world environment and ate lots of raw meat, you'd be fine.

And no, animals cannot eat all the rotten meat. Feed rotten meat to a cat or something and it will probably get sick too. It depends on the animal.

Completely irrelevant to OP.

racist, if he's Greek then that's their tradition to eat raw meat with breadcrumbs like that. You should not call traditions you don't understand "disgusting".

Obviously not the only reason I asked that question is because some retard on Veeky Forums claimed pigs were kept around just to get rid of human waste through the centuries ie eating buckets of nothing but human shit and for some reason this belief seems widespread

>but we'll become deathly sick if we try to eat raw meat

disgusting traditions are what they are: disgusting.
there are African tribes where boys eat the adults' semen believing it'll make them stronger, to give a more radical example.

>fish is meat
>inb4 meat can be prepared as sushi/sashimi
In the west sushi and sashimi refer 100% to preparing fish.

>eating a little bit of raw meat is on the same level as swallowing semen
whatever bro

Wow, africans are so poor that they accept cum rations like that meme pic with the europeans.

Humans are adapted to cooking food. The very first humans ever cooked food. The hominids we came from were hunting and cooking their meat for over a million years before we even existed .

Jesus Christ, so many memes and no real answers.

Our human-like ancestors invented fire and began to cook their food. Cooked food is safer and more readily digestible so they evolved to have a shorter digestive tract and spend less energy to digest food. Basically cooking food helps 'pre-digest' the food so while an animal has to expend a lot of energy to break down a meal a human will do it more easily.

By doing this we become more energy efficient and went on to conquer the world and go to the moon.

Papuan, not African.

as a professional shitologist i assure you that with the proper differential equations calculated an optimal turd can be eaten without complicat ions.

>sad but true

>we'll become deathly sick if we try to eat raw meat
I eat sashimi fish and beef all the time though

you'd be surprised how much raw meat you can eat without really getting that sick.

what is this, a graph for ants?

Except it's just as true for primates. They get as sick as easily as we do from rotten foods and meat. 350,000 years only gets you so much evolution. Not saying it's not a factor, but the simpler ones the other posters have pointed out are bigger ones.

We're omnivorous, so what raw meat we do eat has to be fresh, and we have to be somewhat careful about what parts of meat we do eat. Further, we have to be a LOT more careful than do herbivores about rotten plants and fruit (which most can munch on pretty much endlessly).

Carnivores are a bit more resistant to ecoli and the like, and herbivores are a LOT more resistance to rotten plants, but most omnivores are in the same boat we're in. Food poisoning is a pretty common cause of death among all wild animals. Only carrion eaters can really get away with rotten meat (and even among those, there are limits). Nearly every class of animal finds something poisonous that another eats like candy.

Which is why we have very acute color vision, especially close up, where we can examine food, and, like all primates, are such brilliant scavengers. While we have a shit sense of smell, shit and fermentation are among the odors we are acutely attuned to, the latter applying to taste as well.

humans can digest raw meat just fine, but we're likely to be sickened by eating rotten meat.

I dunno, maybe you have a wimpy digestive system, but I can eat just about anything and even if it's spoiled, I'll just be a little gurgly for a few hours and then be 100% fine

Always at least flash frozen to kill parasites

In the states, most of it. It's technically illegal to serve in the states otherwise, but only about 60% of it is actually treated that way, as it isn't strictly enforced. (I can get it fresh at this place down in Long Beach - but they serve Dolphin too, and that's illegal as fuck.)

>Their stomachs are better adapted
Say no more bud-e

It's a long and specific topic, but in general:
-A pathogen for humans might be non-pathogen for other species, and viceversa. This is fucking key.
-Not all food is decomposed by pathogens, but by alteratives that won't kill you if you eat them.
