Meh, don't feel so bad. I was just listening to an article that claimed the literacy rate among High Schoolers in Detroit is 0%. (And they have instances of the 8th grade classes being taught by actual 8th graders, thanks to a state law that allows unqualified teachers - that's when they have teachers at all.)

I mean, even taking the, ummmm, particular "demographic" into account, that's pretty staggering. Apparently there's a SCOTUS case in the works in regards to this, as Detroit isn't the only "school system" in such disrepair.
