Species is an arbitrary term, as is sub-species.
Although a species is said to be a group of animals that interbreed and cannot interbreed with other species, there are plenty of species that can interbreed with each other and produce fertile offspring. Further, sub-species has literally no meaningful definition. Taxonomy has no relevance whatsoever to humans anyway.
