Is it true that Von Neumann didn't invent the von neumann architecture

that he took credit for it....

what stuff did he actually do that many praise him for?

Was his day basically all math?

while its true that the architecture wasn't really his work, but he did have a role in implementing in a computer for the first time I believe, and promoting it

even so, he still literally invented game theory, with that singular achievement he would already be in the annals of math history, he also did a bunch of other stuff (read the first post)

why do people have a problem with Veeky Forums gushing over von neumann

the dude was a genius..he is the closest you can get to being a celebrity among mathematicians, he frankly deserves it

People getting credit for things they didn't actually do happens all too often:

Richard Dawkins didn't actually understand the concept of memetic theory and his book The Selfish Gene is actually shit in comparison to the great works that came several years before his.

the point is von neumann is still a legend

shit op

VN is probably the only person in existence where being called a 'genius' is a complete understatement.

I think that you really don't understand what Von Neumann Architecture is. It's not complicated thing like modern computer architecture, the idea of VNA is that CPU fetches it's instruction set from the memory where the instructions are written instead of providing them manually.

So it's a simple idea and how anybody could steal it from somebody ?

VN looked at UNIVAC and said - "it's better for CPU to fetche instructions from the memory not manually, let's call it my architecture" - that's it/

Besides he literally created game theory, he was a polymath, a genius/

this

von Neumann was a supreme universal genius. he also saved the earth from russian annihilation.

will i ever be as intelligent as he was?

nop sorry :(

Over 100 billion humans have been born and died since our existence.

John von Neumann is probably in the top 10 smartest people to ever have existed.

You are closer to the IQ of a gorilla than Von Neumann

who did work on memetics before dawkins?

Gauss was better

>is it true that Von Neumann didn't invent the von neumann architecture
True. He just wrote a gov report on it and they gave him all the fame. Fucking bullshit.

von Neumann was a gigantic attention whore.

Meet Konrad Zuse, the man who proposed it around 1936, and built it around 1941 with the en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Z3_(computer).

If you don't know him, you are a deluded normie.

The Manchester Baby of 1948 and the EDSAC of 1949 were the world's first computers that stored program instructions and data in the same space. In this they implemented the stored-program concept which is frequently (but erroneously) attributed to a 1945 paper by John von Neumann and colleagues.[25][26] Von Neumann is said to have given due credit to Alan Turing,[27] and the concept had actually been mentioned earlier by Konrad Zuse himself, in a 1936 patent application (that was rejected).[28][29] Konrad Zuse himself remembered in his memoirs: "During the war it would have barely been possible to build efficient stored program devices anyway."[30] and Friedrich L. Bauer wrote: "His visionary ideas (live programs) which were only to be published years afterwards aimed at the right practical direction but were never implemented by him."[31]

> the functional program-controlled Turing-complete Z3 became operational in May 1941

It was Turing Complete, he just didn't know:

>It was possible to construct loops on the Z3, but there was no conditional branch instruction. Nevertheless, the Z3 was Turing-complete – how to implement a universal Turing machine on the Z3 was shown in 1998 by Raúl Rojas.

he did a whole bunch of other stuff...look it up

...

You'd need to have an IQ of 160+ to be closer to john von neumann than a gorilla.

KEK

>Dolph Lundgren

masterful

Don't you know? He has a master's degree in chemical engineering from MIT. He's not exactly some b list dumb dumb actor.

Also, fun fact: Paris Hilton's hobbies are astronomy and restoring vintage WWII-era radio equipment.

People are more complicated than you might think.

he didn't invent it. people like Émile Borel and Ernst Zermelo did a shitload of work on it before he came along.

that's exactly what makes it so masterful.

>Paris Hilton's hobbies are astronomy
is that why she became a staaaaaaaaaaar

who's that guy above euler

I didn't know he had his iq measured, or is this a bait pic

This picture is absolutely retarded.

>in comparison to the great works that came several years before his

and what are these books?

>hfw he saw all those meat head celebs with genius IQs
>hfw when he googled them and realized it wasnt a joke

>not naming the books

faggot

nice bait

He came up with none of them :^)

What exactly are neumannlets """inventions""" exactly ?

guys, gtfo, im trying to get the names of the books

Who's the 140 nigger and the 200 chink

Some people in that picture spent their entire life crafting their theories as to lie the foundations of the mathematics and physics of the next decades (or century). Putting there Schwarzenegger or Lundgren because he has a major in chemical engineering and speaks a few languages is embarrassing.

>He doesn't know who Terence Tao is.

>with genius IQs
sourced from tweenblog.org

Yes he did Von Neumann minimal thereom in 1928 is seen as the starting point of game theory

We know....

faggot

It's an IQ/intelligence chart, not a scientific achievement chart.

Lundgren has an IQ of around 160, he's a member of mensa, and has around 3 degrees. There's nothing wrong with putting him there.

how is von nuemann a thief?

I lied

>Lundgren has an IQ of around 160
Mine is 199.
Why do retards fall for the neme digits?
No sources, no credibility.

199 is impossible

You don't say?

faggot
