Bowie's Berlin trilogy is pretty top.

The theme to Gods on the Amiga.

Listen to this: youtube.com/watch?v=zJ26QY0A_aQ

I like a bit of Satie. Not to say I don't like Chopin, but Chop was way more pretentious in his musicality that Satie.

I quite enjoy Penguin Cafe Orchestra and the Esbjörn Svensson Trio (rip) for similar reasons.

This is also not the place for it OP, /mu/ is more than happy to talk about this shit. They're a pretty good board all in all.

yeah i suppose im just curious to what you guys listen to thats all.

damn, also english clearly isn't my 1st language

I wish lit had an "off topic general" or something similar

OP, I really love pretty much all of Andrew Bird's solo albums. Armchair Apocrypha is a favorite. Also been trying out ambient/drone and liking Stars of the Lid.

mostly sufjan, beach house, and mount eerie.

Lately I've been listening to Blind Willie Johnson and Son House.
Blind Will honestly kind of hurts to listen to. I didn't really get it as a teenager but now it feels like sorrow personified.

Bohren und der Club of Gore - Maximum Black

See you back at /mu/

Bill Callahan, especially his last two releases

I don't listen to as much music as I used to

when I do its Classical or Baroque, Bach, Mozart, etc

I love his most recent 2 as well. Even the dub remix he released. His stuff is just so good... the constant balancing between detached bemusement and melancholy resignation. Do you know of any other musicians I might enjoy? Cat powers older stuff cones close, as does Bonnie prince Billie's. Pls respond

Calm your tits Chopin

the setting of the video, the media context, and the essence of the music make for complete and total sorrow in anyone who sees what is happening

This perhaps could be considered the Ulysses of music, it is the greatest example of an experimental masterwork in early 20th century and changed music forever.

(early in their career)
(rock)

Soft Machine, Matching Mole, Robert Wyatt, Gong, Kevin Ayers, Henry Cow, Zappa, Beefheart, Velvet Underground, Nico, Terry Riley, Steve Reich, Klaus Schulze, Faust, Neu!, Amon Duul II, Can, Popol Vuh, Foetus, Morphine, Jefferson Airplane, Red Krayola, Grateful Dead, Doors, The Residents, Pere Ubu, Chrome, The Gun Club, Cop Shoot Cop, Don Caballero, Slint, Joanna Newsom

I enjoy Serj Tankian (band and solo stuff), rhcp, Spoon, Queen, Starflyer 59, Johnny Cash and Rammstein.

I like Industrial; here's a favourite of mine from the soundtrack to a pretty neat movie.

It's a slow burner; best played at brain-splitting volume to get the maximum out of the piece's torque and fiber.

Haino and LRD are the most Veeky Forums acts.

Classical music is the most patrician for normies, but jazz is the purest artform.
Jazz is music for musicians, art made for artists to enjoy.
Oh and when said jazz GODS dip into commercial stuff you get perfect music for reading to.
Personal favorite, and arguably best case of this, Jimmy Webb.
>By the Time I Get to Phoenix (any artist, there are so many versions)
>Moon's a Hard Mistress (webbs own performance is the best, but I remember Julie London doing a great version, maybe with him)
>Wichita Lineman (the man himself Glen Campbell)
>The Hideaway (5th Dimension)
especially the last one with the 5th Dimension is really good, you have the beautiful vocals from the group, backed up by the Wrecking Crew (most successful studio musicians ever) and Jimmy Webb's amazing composition

10/10 memories

This song's pretty Veeky Forums.

youtube.com/watch?v=1zWrxQXzyGE

This album tears my whole world apart, and rebuilds it

Recently late reneissance to baroque - Downland, Bach, Marais and Lully.

String quartets from pretty much all periods. Schubert, Ravel and Shostakovich are my favourites.

Cello concertos, especially Elgar and Dvorak.

I dislike symphonies and operas in general. It's just too intense.

As for popular music, stuff like Nick Cave or the Libertines

I've abandoned jazz for some reason but Sonny Rollins was my fav.

the fall

But we all have a /mu/ taste.
Some of the stuff I listen to a lot right now
Tchaikovsky, Swan Lake
Some random Wagner stuff
Stravinsky
Bach Chello Suites
Chelsea Wolfe
Swans
Alan Broadbent
Drudkh
Batushka
Alcest
Crippled Black Phoenix
Have a Nice Life

No that Veeky Forums, but listening to this at the moment.

I've been listening a lot to Bahamas Goombay 1951-1959 lately.

>This perhaps could be considered the Ulysses of music
I wouldn't push it 2bh. Rite of Spring is excellent but it's not that good.

> it is the greatest example of an experimental masterwork in early 20th century and changed music forever.
Again, I think you're overstating a little bit.

Shit.
Boring fag.
Fuck off.
Wow.
No.
Ew.
Disgusting.
No.
What the fuck.
Horrible.
Idk.
>black music

>Mezzanine and 100th Window

This dude knows what's good

Bach

Stravinsky, particularly Rite of Spring. The greatest composition ever, tbqh.

>Jimmy Webb
>black

most Veeky Forums album coming through

Easily one of the worst posts I have ever read.

>How do I appear patrician? I don't know any good music!
>lol I'll just everyone plebs, that'll show 'em!

Stravinsky > (((Schoenberg)))
