Could this city be the ultimate place for living the literary lifestyle?
Thomas Ward
No
>Smells like shit >Ugly >People only speak French
Henry Lee
But user, those are all good.
Juan Clark
Any eastern european city with a decent university will do.
Charles Williams
No. My ex cheated on me there while she was studying abroad.
Henry Johnson
Tell us about it.
Lucas Adams
Every girl who studies abroad cheats
Parker Flores
Played in a concert in Liege during the summer, it's a lovely city.
Logan Lopez
>eastern european city with a decent university will do. Plovdiv is one of the most Veeky Forums cities in Europe desu.
>one of the oldest, if not the oldest still inhabited city in Europe >human settlements here since 4000BC >architecture is a mixture between Roman empire buildings, Bulgarian national revival, Soviet architecture and modernity >interesting landscape >population of about 350 000
to be fair im biased since I was born and lived there for about 20 years, but even when you're walking you get a feel you're knee-deep in European history and culture
Jaxon Taylor
...
Robert Lee
Looks like your regular, former roman settlement, city here in Romania.
Evan Wright
that's like, at least 20% of european cities
Charles Sullivan
>belgium nah, don´t wanna get bombed
Easton Powell
Do you know how the university of Plovdiv is?
Brandon Reyes
Yeah, it's pretty based. Walloons do comfy depression better than most people.
Those industrial outskirts are top tier as well. Looks like Chernobyl.
Nathan Stewart
It's called Luik.
Bentley Gonzalez
this
all of your points work for my city too
Adam King
nah i prefer life here in northern italy
Tyler Nelson
My friend did one year in Erasmus there and I've visited him twice. I can tell you it's a cultureless shithole with an insufferable "bro" party culture worthy of american campuses. The Carré fills up every night with some of the lowest tier drunkards and thirsty alpha boys. There's trash littering the streets every single day.
Belgians in general are also some of the smuggest cunts I've ever met, second maybe to Dutchies. My choice for most Veeky Forums city would be Bologna. Superior in almost all the aspects you mention and actually culturally relevant.
Landon Ortiz
Do you even gloom?
Jackson Hernandez
Why are the Dutch so smug? It seems to be their defining characteristic.
Jaxson Jenkins
But there isn't one decent university in any eastern european city. Is there?
Luke Hall
Ghent is the most Veeky Forums Belgian city
Brody Jenkins
Luik is oke if you don't own a car.
Jeremiah Brooks
Antwerpen is 't stad en al de rest is parking.
Carter Thomas
>the shitty small belgian city I live in is the best city, right?
Logan Barnes
St. Petersburg and Moscow are two examples of cities with universities, which employ top tier professors. It's just that their management is shitty. But the intellectual scene is very much alive nonetheless.
Jaxon Taylor
>>Not too big, not too smal (200k inhabitants) That's WAY too tiny.
Can't live a proper life with such a small population of people to pick and choose from, socially etc.
Lincoln Johnson
Donji Lukavac.
Sebastian Taylor
>Belgian/French city
If I wanted to experience Africa I'd just visit the original.
Wyatt Fisher
Liège is only good for making god-tier waffles, otherwise i'm glad to stay in my homely Nancy.
Joseph Brooks
>Heavy drinking is socially acceptable
How is this at all Veeky Forums?
Benjamin Howard
>decadent >Veeky Forums ?
Grayson Reed
I studied there for 2 years, by Bulgarian university standards its average I would say. there are several other unis in the city, I think the most popular is the medical one, because of it now the city is full of greeks, turks, indians and negros
Charles Richardson
I biked through Belgium and its relevant cities this summer and in terms of litness it's Ghent > Antwerpen > Brussels > Brugge = Liege. Lille beats them all though.
Austin Sanders
De tijd is rijp voor een hereffening van 1832: ruim baan voor het Nieuwe Groot-Nederlandsche Rijk!
Nicholas Hernandez
mudslime? nah we're good muhammad.
Andrew Perez
Okay so. Girl and I were together for almost six years when she decided to go for an Erasmus to Liege. That was cool so she went there for one semester. Few weeks after the left, things cooled down a little. There was a lot less contact and she grew more and more distant. I confronted her about it more than once, but she always denied that anything was up. Then, photos started to float around Facebook, but they didn't show up on my feed. Friends of mine were sending me those and I suppose she changed her privacy settings so I couldn't see what photos she was tagged in. It showed her at parties (at nights when she told me she was busy studying), with a guy in suggestive poses. In other words, she hooked up with this Italian dude while I was at home, oblivious about it all. After I saw those, I confronted her one last time and she didn't deny it anymore. She was actively cheating on me. I was devastated, but also naive, so I booked the next train to Liege to save the relationship. It was a catastrophe. She was living in a shitty neighborhood, in a shitty apartment with other students. I came for one weekend and we settled on talking things out, so we went straight to her room to discuss the whole mess. It was all civil, she said she regretted it and I had a good feeling that we could forget about this and keep on being a couple. Then things are kind of a blur. We went to this festival where the whole city had candles everywhere, came home, had sex. After that, she told me that she didn't love me anymore. I flipped out, threw her jewellery out of the window (fourth floor), kicked a cabinet in and tore posters from the wall. I was in rage. The only thing I did not hit was her. After that I took my backs and stormed out into Liege at 2am. Which is not a good idea as it's really not safe. Went to a park bench near the train station and just waited for the sun to rise. Hung out with some homeless guys. I didn't get mugged so I got lucky. Once I got home I fell into depression for half a year. Liege is a shit city.
Grayson Evans
is this a serious question?
Jaxson Morales
It's Berlin
Isaiah Smith
oh m8, sorry for that
Jace Richardson
Pics or GTFO
Caleb Hill
Pics of what, mate? Those off Facebook? I deleted my account there after this mess, figured social networks were nothing for me. I'm way too paranoid now anyway.
Owen Smith
Everyone cheats on Erasmus m8 - the main offenders tended to be French and Spanish.
Thomas Allen
As a Belgian, lol, yeah it is.
Massively unemployed socialist voting part of the country, known to be filled with lazy as fuck people, but proud of their "hon hon, culture, n'est pas", i.e. literary lifestyle.
It's the most Veeky Forums shit you can imagine yes.
Thomas Stewart
I feel for you m8.I sincerely believe that you did the best you could for her. I went through some similar shit. She was a bitch and I wasn't able to admit it was a mistake to love her because well I loved her too much. For what its worth, she doesn't deserve you and I hope that you find happiness in some other soul. Until then, steel yourself and don't make the same mistake. Peace
Samuel Taylor
Guys, thanks. It happened, and because of it I was in an abyss for a long time. Far too long, and it wasn't even worth it. Our identities are moulded by our experiences, and the way we handle them. So the only lesson learnt is that we all need to find how to deal with them constructively. Find solace and comfort in something else and move on. We are bound to fall on our asses but life really goes on. It goes on until we drop and until then, and we have to make the best of it, pain and sorrow aside. Cheers. All the best, to all of you.
Ayden Myers
Flemish cities are better to be honest
Asher Johnson
This is the ultimate Veeky Forums place to live in. I wish we'd all go there, collectively.
Adrian Adams
I heard that it really works your creative instinct, there's something in the air that just ignites your brain cells.
Mason Lewis
>not living in leicester blows any other european city out of the water
Camden Miller
>I hope that you find happiness in some other soul Yeah, his own. Relying on externals for happiness is a fool's game to be honest.
Noah Cox
It really causes the imagination to flourish. Where a normal person might see a handful someone with that level of concentration can look beyond the facts and come up with millions.
Logan White
This. I tried to find happiness in my girl and got fucked up. It isn't worth being suicidal for a year.
Noah Allen
>smells like shit But Paris smells like piss >ugly lol no >people only speak French How is this not Veeky Forums? Are you some pleb who thinks people should learn your language? I'm inclined to believe this. If there's to be a group of ex-pat burgers who get famous it'll probably be Eastern Europe this time. People forget that Paris was popular because it was dirt cheap to live in for Americans. I was in Liege for a semester and I fucked my share of study abroad girls. What year was it? 2013?
Wyatt Nelson
Sounds comfy. wtf I love Romania now
Henry Flores
i've never been to switzerland or austria but i reckon a small swiss or austrian town would be the best place to live provided there are no muslims or slavs.
Grayson Rodriguez
Care to elaborate on bologna? Do you live there! ? I ask this because I'm considering the idea of studying there. It seems pretty Veeky Forums desu, I mean, Dante fucking Alighieri studied there
Levi Richardson
>intellectual scene in Russia
Jeremiah Carter
Excuse me but Palmerston North in the great country of New Zealand is the intellectual capital of the Southern Hemisphere
