An active hobby is very different from a passive hobby. Reading and writing are like grapes and raisins. They're pretty much the same thing in essence, but not everyone who is into one is into the other.

As a writer I've always find taking inspiration from gaining certain emotions from music, than books themselves. Just stretched over a long span of time. Copying other people's work, hodge podge isn't a great idea. A better is to just take as little what you can, something original, and structure it with music, think in how a song progresses.
