Instead of losing hundreds of soldiers cleaning up every district of a town, you just destroy it, the enemy wasn't supposed to be able to move or attack when it is used.

This is the Bugatti Model 100, a racing plane designed by Bugatti himself.
It was never finished as France fell early in the war. The plane was disassembled and hidden from the Nazis
It has two contra-rotating propellers, and the obvious reverse-swept wings and v-tail.
A replica was made in 2011, and on it's first test flight raced at 200 km/h
