Vsauce is a philosophy channel, not a science one. He never made any videos claiming to be a professional on the stories he researched. His videos encourage people to look at the world in different angles, and come away with a different perspective, and he does a good job at it too. I think it's better to be a English major who is a skilled science evangelist, then an actual qualified scientist who makes youtube videos for preteens.

He isn't claiming to be a genius, he just makes surface-level informative content that both gives a decent general outline of certain scientific/mathematical/philosophical topics, and encourages viewers to go looking for themselves if they really want to learn more about said topics. In other words, what any good popular science media should do.
