When you accept something to be true you believe in that thing, the concept you're thinking of is faith. And science too, at the most fundamental level, rests on faith.
for example: we have faith that the rules as they are now have not changed since the beginning of the universe and they will not change in the future. This seems to be a safe belief but we cannot measure existence in the past and have not yet experienced the future so this belief comes down to faith.
