Sorry, this is a lie.

It involves math, you brainlet, you're just mad because they pull in way more than your (((((((physics teacher)))))))) salary.

Just because a field uses math does not make it a science.

Would you consider Accounting a science? Because actuarial science is about as scientific as accounting, it just uses calculus and probability in addition to basic algebra.

I mean, sure, you make plenty of money, and you can earn more money faster by studying and passing more tests so if that's the part of school you're good at it might work for you. But you need to come to terms with the fact that you are essentially making statistical models based on data as part of a highly bureaucratized corporate business process, and will never do anything even tangentially related to mathematical research, science, or really anything in the physical world. At least engineers are making something.

It was ten years ago, now the field is oversaturated as hell.

Go on then, Pajeet, who earns more?

Sources?

depends on where you go. If you are able to pass the exams you could make a fuck load but it'd just be easier to get a degree in comp science / engineering and write code for a smart watch since everyone is jazzing themselves over it these days.

>meme parenthesises
Back to whatever shithole you crawled out of

>pajeet
>who makes more?
You sound very young and impressionable.

Our world wastes tech. :(

There we go, mad (((((((physics teacher))))))) successfully baited.
>t. I didn't go to school for this. :(
Sweet justice.

Because I use Veeky Forums vernacular for the Indo-ethnic person you likely are? Gosh, who uses Internet speak on the Internet? Stop trying to boost your ego and just answer, thank you.

Yep, you're under 20. It's very obvious.

Nah, the most profitable stem-related is medicine, and more specifically, specialty-surgeons.

Cardio and nuero surgeons make 400k+ easy.

>Yep, you're under 20. It's very obvious.
Yep, you're a virtue signaller. It's very obvious.
>t. glasses hipster

Only in the US though...

>virtue signaller
Nice /pol/ buzzword. You have to go back. Let me assist you

Actuarial science: for when you're too stupid for pure maths but too beta to keep up with the Chads in finance.

Math isn't a science.

>/pol/ buzzword
>Happens to be common parlance across several media external from Veeky Forums.
1) Stop trying to seek affirmation of your 'virtuous self' on a Nepalese goat-herding forum.
2) Try actually communicating with people outside of Veeky Forums, you might learn what is common lexicon and what isn't.
3) Are you going to actually answer the question with insightful information or proceed to virtue signal about how you don't like slang?

Stop getting butthurt about being called out for being a /pol/tard and stop writing butthurt mini essays.

Breh, that hurts.

Math is the language of science, guy.

>Thinks an essay in a couple of lines long.
What?
>t. I run out of solid comebacks so I'll just start using slang too.
Hypocrisy, nice.
>butthurt
>butthurt
>/pol/tard
Repetition, nice.

This thread is cancer

You're like 18 and haven't even decided on a major judging by this thread, what makes you so sure of yourself that you can talk about 'the language of science' with any authority

Shit, you're really running out of material aren't you.

Note the lack of an interrogative, that's called a rhetorical question.

Your home board beckons.

Likewise? Your self-importantce is pretty amusing, I asked a question and used a slang term and now you think you're the Judge Bader Ginsburg of Veeky Forums? Step down off that high horse and do be careful, it'd be an awfully long fall.

Samefagging this hard, impressive.

Math isn't a science retard. Please inform yourself before posting you frosh piece of shit.

Define a science and you'll see that mathematics is a science; not only it is a science, it is the language of science.

Just stop posting any time, you're embarassing yourself.

I wish there was an integral captcha on this board to keep pieces of human trash like you off.

>[mass noun]
>he intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment:
>‘the world of science and technology’
(en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/science)
Where do the roots of mathematics come from? The study of the natural world as a tool to understand and convey it, therefore, both a science and the language of science.
>An example of mathematics in nature:

>I do believe the term is BTFO.

i'm considering a career as an actuary. but i wanna help the world somehow. helping insurance companies make more money seems like a complete waste of my only life

But muh money for muh capitalism?

Mathematics is not a science m8. It's akin to philosophy. Do you consider English a science? Because science uses English as much as it uses Mathematics.

Science is about experiment and observation. Mathematics is about logical reasoning; these are two different things.

See: You both got ruined.

Math is not a science, do you even know the difference between empiricism and platonism? Probably not because you're a stupid frosh.

So, your argument against my argument is literally "muh philosophy?"
Fuck right off, give something solid of skulk off with your tail between your legs already.

>>Non-ironically believing that math studies the behavior of physical world
boi are you really that dumb?

Mathematics are fundamentally different to science.

1. (usedwithasingularverb)thesystematic treatmentofmagnitude,relationships betweenfiguresandforms,andrelations betweenquantitiesexpressed symbolically.
2.(usedwithasingularorpluralverb)mathematicalprocedures,operations,or properties.

Anti-intellectual trash, go back your septic tank

>2+2= a bar graph and the entire fucking world
Making a difference one equation at a time

>Unironically asserting that mathematics doesn't study the physical world.
Chigger, are you really that idiotic?

So, "muh semantics", c'mon, where is the "muh empiricism"? :^)

>You uncouth philistine, how dare you not bow down to my weasel words?!
C'mon, try harder, user, try HARDER!

>he thinks mathematics studies the physical world
You're really not that bright huh?

>He doesn't think mathematics studies the physical world.
Your neurons don't quite fire right, do they?
>t. circular argument

...

That's physics you moron, kys.

have fun filling the pockets of some fat pig, cucks

>>>/trailertrash/

Oh sorry, do you mean natural philosophy?

As opposed to being a fat pig

This has to be the most cancerous thread on Veeky Forums atm, something went very wrong.

>but too beta to keep up with the Chads in finance.
>Implying Chad isn't on Actuarial Science as well.
Also Chad does MBA actually
Petroleum Engy, Nuclear Engy, PhD physicist and certain MBA are the most profitable

>When the collective autism kicks in

lel, true enough

Go on, find my flaw, I dare you?

Based, user.

Nice show of solidarity.... oh no... wait... just samefagging, FOR SHAME!

>Mathematics exists to study and model the physical world

Top tier shitpost. Here, (You)'ve earned this (You).

Thank you, user, so very kind.

Just pursue pure Math and do the exams in your spare time if you want. You'll have all the machinery to go into it if you want but not be tight casted into working insurance the rest of your life.

Yes and no.

You would need extra courses for it, like Finance, Economics and some Accounting since i'm sure you guys take Stats with pure Math right?

Pure mathematics is rather beautiful.

>Go ahead, find my flaw
You're a faggot from /pol/

I highlighted the most important parts of the original image for you... And it is scarily accurate.

This. It's hard to call it a STEM subject, and harder to call it a 'science'. I'm not even sure that it's all that intellectually challenging... It's just training to become a business analyst for extra money, but you need good grades to get the extra money.

>Implying that trends in data aren't worth studying
>Implying that the use of mathematical modeling of real phenomena based off of probability is somehow not real science because of some out-dated notion of causality

The problem with that line of reasoning is that it reduces everything into a "science", including but not limited to:
>economics
>psychology
>stock trading
>election forecasting
>programming
>science fiction
>rolling for dubs on Veeky Forums

They may still be worth studying, but to admit these fields as 'scientific' would reduce the definition of 'science' to a triviality.

But Psychology is a science.

...

Judging by the thread OP has severe autism and other autists actually paid attention to him and fed him replies

What exactly is Jewish about a physics teacher my fellow /pol/ shitposter?

>Doesn't have anything to left to refute my arguments.
>Y-you're a f-faggot f-from /pol/!
Nice try, Muhammad.

Perfection, user, well done.

I'm literally in it or the shekels.

Yeah, fuck off, buddy.

The fact he fell for the ((((teaching))))) meme.

This is an awful post and you should feel bad about yourself.

If you're in it for the money you probably won't make it past second year of any serious math degree.

What're you on about?

Mathematics is not a science. It's also erroneous to say that it studies the physical world, as mathematics is axiomatic and is not built upon observation and experimentation.

It's more a part of the humanities, really.

t. Math undergrad who chose a math major because he didn't want to do labs.

And that's your argument against his argument against your argument? Go fuck your self

the axioms rarely come first

it's certainly wrong to say its not built upon observation and experimentation

Dentists probably make more than specialists especially with how easy it is for them to open their own clinic. They do make far more than a general practitioner for sure though.

You do not understand your subject as well as you think that you do. I stop short of calling you simply wrong, because it is true that mathematics is more abstract and speculative, and in some sense(!) less dependent on observable reality for its realization as a discipline. In that sense, you're getting it only half-right. Yet it obviously requires rigorous observations, checks, and so on. Paradoxically, mathematics /must/ correspond with observable reality to some particular and abstract extent, in order to be what we demand of it.

The final clause of your first sentence is the most patently wrong part of your post, and this in large part because the axioms themselves are supposed to be "obvious", which is to say: built upon observation and experimentation.

t. math grad (and thus literally of a higher degree than you at the moment, if both of our accounts are to be believed)

I believe you misspelled nuclear power

Woah man take your medication already holy shit
