IQ is a social construct used to differentiate one type of mind set from all other mind sets using a scale.

Meaning that one IQ test may result in high scores for 1 person but anther IQ test won't because it is structured from the ground up to be testing a different type of mind set.

You could train a neural network to recognize posts that are smarter or "dumber" than yourself. Then compute the IQ of all Veeky Forums posts with a normal distribution.

This is just idea that I'll try right now. It could be fun to automatically catch quality posts on Veeky Forums and send an alert somehow.

We don't have the smallest grasp or understanding of how the brain works. What we can do is try to measure what it can do, using metrics that we believe correlate best with intelligence in general, such as pattern recognition. Then we compare how quickly all humans can accomplish this and rank. That is IQ. The test has been improved and refined for about a century now.

It is a good predictor of life success and happiness, statistically speaking. Not much else you can ask for given our limited understanding of our own brain.

I think the best would be to use the Elo rating system (or similar). For example it could be an interactive shell that displays two posts, asks for the best one and repeats until there are enough connections to predict the ranking of the others.

95% of brainlet "muh 140 IQ after 2 attempts" test takers havent even taken the real IQ tests. The ones that are so hard they aren't even timed and are expected to take days to complete, with no answers (or "hints," you god damn brainlets) available online.

But dont mind me, just stick to your cookie-cutter Ravens matrices with the same patterns you've seen 500 times before, aka the 135 IQ tests. Don't try the 160+ tests, you'll just fry out and rage quit when you dont see a single pattern question.

Mensa is a social club for autists, but iq is a real thing that can be accurately measured and that correlates extremely closely to lifetime success, to problem solving ability, and to perceived "brightness".

It also means being able to learn memes faster.

Doesn't seem to matter, iq is strongly linked to the ratio of brain size to body size, ie, a big brain doesn't mean high iq if it's on a big body but likewise a small brain can be exceptional on a small body.

iq is not "speed of thought", which is often "comorbid" with iq but not always.

After doing well in college for a year, I got kicked out during my second year because I stopped going to class and started arguing with professors. I tried to explain to my mom that school was for stupid sheep, but she sent me to a psychiatrist anyway. Well, my psychiatrist couldn't follow anything I said, so he concluded I was either an idiot or schizo. To figure out which, he gave me an IQ test. He later told me that I had an IQ in the 99.9th percentile and that I should take anti-psychotics.

When considering whether to take anti-psychotics or not, I realized that the psychiatrist had told me exactly what I wanted to hear:

I think I'm doing better today -- if for no other reason than I've realized that the IQ test didn't really make sense as an IQ test (he really just asked me to define some words and to explain some concepts) which means not only that my IQ is probably not in the 99.9th percentile, but also that he completely understood me and knew exactly what I needed to hear. I'm not misunderstood, just not super smart.

People don't understand that IQ doesn't measure intelligence per se. IQ test measures a person IQ. However, the reason why they are so useful is because we know that IQ tests are highly g-loaded. A person's g-factor is the REAL scientific measurement of intelligence. The psychometric construct of g, has been found to have numerous correlate, has been consistent, and has predictive powers, and the reason why statistical analysis is such a big thing in psychometrics. Maybe looking up "g factor" is what you're looking for OP? Cause otherwise, I don't understand a thing your post is saying.
