Some genius medfag want to save my life? All my salivary glands (parotid, submandibular, sublingual, accessory parotids, all both sides) have been swollen for over 7 months now. I have been to countless specialists and a rheumatologist, and was ultimately diagnosed with "idiopathic sialadenosis", because they ruled everything out. I was checked for every virus, every bacteria, every autoimmune disease multiple times, every STD, and they found nothing. I was basically told to live it with... which is not possible. I look worse than the guy in this pic. I am only fucking 19 years old too, this shit is ruining my life completely.
Fuck my life... costs like 8k apparently and my fucking parents won't pay for it...
Michael Scott
It is ok op I started balding at age 16 and had no hair at all in your age. I have a micropenis aswell.
Trust me, you cheeks are okay and guess what it is operable! I can't do shit to my hair loss or penis
Nolan Perry
post results, did you had biopsy?
Jacob Barnes
No but what's the point, don't have results on hand.
No stds, no sjogrens confirmed by multiple antibody tests and rheumatoid factor and sonogram, no stones confirmed by mri and sonogram, no lymph node involvement confirmed by mri and I think bloodwork, everyone (all specialists) is saying it's not cancer or infectious
So idk wtf to do. No biopsy because I already got dianosed as idiopathic.
Eli Gonzalez
yes you can
Owen Perez
Also the onset was "overnight" as in the ~4 hour period I slept from around 7:38 AM to 12 noon one day. I was completely normal and even posting my face to be rated before I went to bed, woke up 4 hours later as a complete freak.
Only thing I can think of is a shitty reaction between accutane and DNP, but I was using those for over 1.5 months together with no issue before it happened, and I was off the dnp for over a week before it happened
Benjamin Morales
I would think autoimmune. My uncle got all puffy after he had a thyroid issue.
Landon Harris
Please tell me your doctors know you used dnp
Henry Williams
Nope. Lel. But I stopped it ages ago and cant even find one person online complaining about this shit I have, in any context let alone dnp
They wouldn't even know what dnp is, and just blame it off the bat anyway.
What do you suggest tho?
Colton Clark
So you didn't think the fact that you used an insecticide to lose weight, alongside a banned acne medication and surely steroids as well was relevant to an unexplainable swelling of your salivary glands?
You know how drugs' prospects have a huge list of potential side effects, that apparently nobody ever gets but they are still on the prospects? Well, those lists are for extremely well researched drugs.
If you search on the internet for a very uncommon side effect of an already uncommon drug, you most likely won't find anything. Doesn't mean a side effect isn't there.
A drug like DNP probably has a bunch of those side effects that nobody talks about on the internet, simply because very few people ever got it before and they didn't write online about it.
Congratulations on being a research subject, I guess. Maybe they'll write a paper on you.
Ryder Gonzalez
If you were using roids with the DNP, were you doing any PCT?
These are side effects of Tamoxifen
>large hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, and sex organs
And according to mayo clinic
>Because of the way this medicine acts on the body, there is a chance that it might cause unwanted effects that may not occur until months or years after the medicine is used.
Other estrogen modulators seem to have similar side effects
Mason Hill
Nope did not use that, I blast and cruise steroids because I had lower testosterone naturally than a below-average 100 year old man. Only reason I started
Dnp was widely widely studied in the 1930s or so in the united states as a prescription medication for weight loss, my condition was never recorded once. Trust me I have looked.
Luke Howard
>I haven't found anything on the internet suggesting a link between my past use of dangerous drugs with my symptoms >Therefore no link between the two can possibly exist >Therefore I don't need to tell my doctors about my drug use
This is you

Medfag here. What you need to do is- 1.) start washing your face with soap and warm water 2.) eat less, work out more 3.) continue steps 1 and 2 for 3 months 4.) if face still fat, get the biopsy to exclude non-neoplastic growths (multiple locations exclude neoplasm), IgG4 related inflammation, sarcoidosis. Get a diabetes work-up (you fat, lazy fuck). 5.) If Dx comes back inconclusive, apply heated pads to your fat face and start saving money for your parotidectomy.
Gabriel Jones
do you know how thoroughly this substance was studied in the 1930s? there are countless actual studies detailing its every effect.
Levi Martinez
Care to sure that reference interval for T in 100 yr old men? Stop making shit up
Caleb Moore
>I had lower testosterone naturally than a below-average 100 year old man. Did you see an endocrinologist? Maybe it could be related who knows
was less than 300ng/dl, average for 85-100 years old is 376.
Brayden James
>1996 >measuring testo by immunoassay
Wut?
Better off guessing. Literally. And it takes a 120 "normal" person cohort to generate a proper reference interval. The source paper had 16. Stop making shit up.
I... just.... can't. Normal for adult males 20-45 with a proper test is ~400 - 1200 ng/dL total T.
Nicholas Cook
And that has what to do with me being under 300
Christopher Long
Your not "less than a 100 year old male". Your just being a dramatic bitch. Your referenced paper had nothing to do actual testo measurement, but the general effects of low T and aging (could probably draw a correlation between T levels fac wrinkles with a well correlated negative slope) What you probably are is a hypogonadal, acne-ridden shithead fat-faced twat.

Any muscle twitches in your face/neck?
William Morales
there are 8 in my face that i know of. that would completely scar the fuck out of my face. the accessory parotids right under my cheek bones both sides, the huge ass parotids obviously behind my jaw both sides, the ones below my jaw both sides, the ones under my chin both sides
the people that get them removed don't have this many
Chase Wilson
0 symptoms except a bit of dry mouth/lack of saliva flow (not really too bad but it's there), and obviously the 8 swollen salivary glands (4 each side)
Connor Murphy
Any pain when touched? How solid would you say they are (as in base of thumb, inside of thigh, knuckle- some sort of reference point)?
Isaiah Cooper
they are pretty damn solid, one of the ENTs described them as "non tender". I guess just about as solid as a thick orange with the peel still on. sometimes they get a little softer though for no reason. they also change size, every 2-4 weeks they will grow and shrink, but not really by too much either way.
also i have even gotten desperate enough to try the food allergy approach, and ate nothing but plain chicken for ~2 weeks, with no change
no pain unless i press pretty hard, even then it''s not TOO bad, but definitely hurts more than it would squeezing normal tissues anywhere else
Camden Clark
Also even typing this out seems retarded but I read bulimia can cause it, and one time I accidentally ate fast food that sat in my car for over a month, so I tried to make myself vomit but it didn't work. Was sticking my fingers down my throat and was vomitting up water but the food didn't come out.
That was like two months before this started anyway
Austin Hall
get surgery, grow beard, problem solved
Henry Turner
7 months without a change, yes? That's not allergy driven. Ignore the shit posters above - while they're right about androgens in general, they're asses.
Benjamin Foster
The differential is broad, /scibro- but you should definitely consider the biopsy. For all the parotids to exhibit inflammation for 7 months, it's probably not idiopathic.
Daniel Thompson
It was bigger at the beginning, it's smaller now but not really that much... this is also over 7 months though.
The reason I thought it was allergy driven was my serum IGE levels came back at ~2000.
And I'm growing a beard right now... fml...
Jackson Richardson
Technically it is not "inflamed" apparently, just enlarged. I am thinking about trying pilocarpine, keep seeing it mentioned in papers on the subject...
Also I asked and the biopsy is apparently just to "further rule out" sjogrens even though I have a sonogram and like 5 blood tests indicating I don't have it. I'll prob wind up getting it anyway though
Aaron Scott
Get the IgE test repeated. Have you left your house for any period time since it started?
Julian Phillips
The most puzzling fucking shit though, is how the onset was over 4 hours, and how it is affecting every single salivary gland. It is probably just making my face swollen in general as well, what with all the minor salivary glands that you can't actually see probably being enlarged also, since all 8 that you CAN see are enlarged.
I cannot find a single recorded case in history, where every single gland was enlarged. The closest I have found is just bilateral submandibular and bilateral parotid swelling. I have bilateral parotid submandibular sublingual and accessory parotids...
wtf?
Luke Allen
Not for too long. It started june 8th, I went back to college the end of august and stayed in my dorm for probably 1 or 2 days before I just decided I would rather sit in my room in shame all day at home instead of at college. And now I can't stand being at home anymore because of all the dumb family drama, and it has subsided enough (somehow) that I can walk around looking simply "very ugly" instead of completely deformed (still don't talk to anyone though, lol).
What are you getting at with the away from home thing? Suspecting a potential environmental cause?
We do have a dog, got it the end of december 2015, and it did coincidentally start shedding around the time this started (all over my bed too). My nose gets stuffy as hell and my eyes a little watery if I hug him and stuff. I am pretty sure I am allergic to him but IDK for sure.
Jordan Jackson
I am OP I actually did not think about this before responding. I don't get "muscle twitches" per say but I do feel like shit and have strong urges to blink and swallow hard if I play too many video games which I was doing at the time this started, and get migraines
You thinking the epilepsy route, like in dogs?
Leo Ross
Allergies rarely present in that fashion, and the few days away should have reduced any prevalent interaction. It does sound immune or idiopathic, but the idiopathic route seems less likely. Any other observations from your primary or specialists?
Nolan Gomez
>Any other observations from your primary or specialists? Not really.
Oh just that on the sonogram, the structure of my parotids were abnormal although I don't remember exactly in what way. There was no duct dilation, they were obviously enlarged, etc.. But the sublingual and submandibulars had a completely normal structure.
Luis Stewart
No recommendations to try an antihistamine or corticosteroids to asses an anti inflammatory response? That would have excluded general allergens. You took DNP which is may be implicated, but it's unlikely. I'd refer for a biopsy - pathology will be capable of excluding more of the outliers. You've got about 12 solid Dx's as possibilities, and you need to get a few more of them removed. Good luck, user.
Angel Green
tried taking benadryl for a long time, had exactly 0 effect
i took ibuprofen just now (which they like the useless retards they are, said wouldn't do anything) and it is actually being retardedly effective from what i can tell. took 800mg
John Collins
OK holy shit it is having a bigger effect than I even thought at first
is it gonna come all the way back when this shit wears off? lol
Levi Lopez
Take more. Like 50 times more. 8 grams should totally cure you, but make it 50 just to be sure.
Jaxon Perez
nvm its just fucking placebo tearing at my desperate mind, it didn't do shit, just compared pictures before and after

You associate with the latter.

did they rule out cancer ? honestly i hope to god its not a salivary gland cancer because.... of the implication
Lucas Stewart
This guy took dnp for 1.5 months? Fuck man after 2 weeks I was calling it quits. That's probably not the reason for those symptoms though.
Jonathan Barnes
Yes cancer was ruled out

are you still taking accutane? I know sebaceous glands interact with retinoids and a brief google search suggests with salivary glands as well
Wyatt Hernandez
Nah - retinoids will reduce saliva flow. Not induce OP's condition.
