meta-analyses only really work if you have LOTS of studies you can include. it doesn't sound like that's the case at all here.
also, the authors involved here are heavily involved in the small research field that's in the meta-analysis. that's a huge red flag
meta-analyses are notoriously prone to scale tipping, even unintentionally. a good meta-analysis is performed by someone with no direct stake in the outcome of the research or ties to the studies or researchers involved, and even then they must be very careful with how they perform the analysis.
