Just clarifying for everyone. This is not a new thing. Pedophilia being outwardly expressed has actually significantly gone down over the course of history. It is just more reported because of news and the judicial systems shaming the, almost natural, tendency.
The idea of soiling something pure is why pedophilia exists. The context of the word is sexual although the word's Latin denotation just means loving children. In addition to that, I believe another cause is that love has the innate implication of sex to most men. The popular sexualization of youth also plays a large role in these offenses. Children and young adults are consistently putting up a guise of maturity with their impression on the world (how they dress, act, behave, etc.). Men, mostly, see that as a complimentary wish-come-true. Men will see that as youth (vitality) and maturity (stability) in a relationship that really only exists in a nonlove sense.
Of course, science can't be conclusive about measuring this construct other than studying cases where some retard got caught raping his daughter.
