Rachel Kushner
Eimear McBride
Rachel Cusk
Zadie Smith

these are the only worthwhile fem writers of this season.

Ferrante obviously

Bethany McLean if non-fiction is allowed.

Robin Hobb

:^) not even memeing, fight me.

lorrie moore

LEave Megan Alone!

Rainbow Rowell.
And no, I don't go on Tumblr.

Is it bad that I always equate 'contemporary' to 'shit'?

>I'm not vegan anymore because my vegan lifestyle made me fat

whoever wrote my diary

Susanna Clarke

Hilary Mantel.

Wolf Hall is amazing.

Patricia Lockwood
Unironically

these are good choices
shame clarke has apparently been in poor health and hasn't come out with anything major since JS&MN
ladies of grace adieu was a fun collection of stories too

Elena Ferrante.

I'm curious to read Eimear McBride actually.

None of them can be geniuses, so what's the point? Seems like a big waste of time.

LeGuin
Unless Highsmith counts

Alice Munro

Anne Carson

I read Visit from the Goon Squad a few years back and thought that was pretty good, apart from that awful """""experimental""""" powerpoint section that went on way too long.

I don't read a lot of contemporary fiction, but yeah I'd probably go for Jen Egan then.

Lydia davis

A. M. Homes
Jeanette Winterson
Sarah Vowell
Sontag, too, but not her fiction

Arendt probably isn't contemporary? She's godtier though.

Like Kingsley Amis I'm entirely homosexual when it comes to writing.

Which was a mean thing for Kingsly Amis to say given he was married to Elizabeth Jane Howard at the time.

I want to fuck the shit out of megan boyle while she rants about how fucked her life is.
I'm already thinking she only dates normies who are dumber than her

i want me some crazy pussy asap

>contemporary

I pretty much avoid anything female related except maybe music.
Cause bajork is my gurl.

>I pretty much avoid anything female related

Faggot confirmed

I can assure you 98% of the time women "Artists" will only ever talk about how they are feminist and fighting the man even though they are stupid successful and really have nothing to fight anymore.
The only thing im interested in a female is her throat.

my nigga

Minae Mizumura

Catherynne Valente. Her Fairyland series was great for young readers, but Deathless was a fascinating re-imagining of Russian folklore, the two Orphan's Tales books were insanely complex (each story contains another and another nested and folded into each other) and the Omikuji project was wonderful. Her love of dense lush description would make most lit folks hate her, but I'm always curious to see what her new projects will look like.

I guess Munro or Robinson doesn't count.

valeria luiselli

I have the first book of her fairyland series. I figured it would be generic and dull, is it actually worth a read?

>The only thing im interested in a female is her throat.
>not the pussy
Faggot confirmed

vaginas are gross lad.

There's nothing wrong with being a faggot senpai, just don't do it in public.

None. They're all shit. Just like their male peers.

Nobody who has an intimate relationship with suffering (aka ARTISTS) are pushed to the top of the publishing world.

Melanie Rae Thon

zadie smith obviously you massive fucking goons

Fiction: A.S. Byatt
Poetry: Dionne Brand

Katherine Neville :)

mira

Alexandra Kleeman t2bqh. On reflection though, my opinion's pretty worthless, because a lot of my enjoyment of her works comes from relating to characters.

Toni Morrison

Pic related writes some comfy historical novels
