Experimented with everything I could get my hands on in college and got a bit over my head so I reacted against that lifestyle for a while and embraced something more ascetic. In recent months I've been consuming more alcohol and caffeine than is probably healthy. Once I find a real job and no longer have to worry about failing drug tests I'll probably supplant some of that alcohol with pot.
On the whole I think sobriety is the way to go, at least if you want to live an intellectually active life, but it's nice to get off your head on something psychoactive at night, after you've done your reading/writing/thinking/researching for the day.
