What books do you read while dealing with depression?

What books do you read while dealing with depression?
>Pic unrelated

Don't you ever read Libro Do Desassossego when you are depresed.

Help.

I recommend you read a book that entails a protagonist with whom you can relate with. Try to narrow down the reasons as to why you're depressed.

Isolation? Poverty? Illness?

The Art of the Deal(ing with Depression)

Don't read, go outside

That and The Will to Keep Winning helped me the most

Celine.

>What books do you read while dealing with depression?

Not one person has ever "read themselves" out of depression

When I'm depressed I just keep drinking and reading Soviet shit, the depression actually makes me comfortable now

Lolita, Catch-22

Why is everyone and their moms saying they have depression nowadays?

>capitalism

Dude just read Meditations and spend more time with your friends haha

>libro
>capitalized preposition
ya dun goofed

If you're depressed there's no way you're going to do something as engaging as read anything capable of significance.

Kafka, Japanese lit, Sylvia Plath, Gerrit Achterberg, Robert Creeley, haikus.

Franny and Zooey really cheered me up once but Salinger's kind of divisive on Veeky Forums.

People can be depressed without being full on dissociative, of course some small interests can stay with you even if you feel really sad.

You seem to confuse the common view on depression with an existential crisis. You don't get much pleasure from anything when you have depression but you won't find many people that just give up their hobbies. Half of Veeky Forums are some self-diagnosed sadbois so this is pretty ridiculous if your ask me.

read some Sabato and kill yourself because being alive is the ultimate pain

Honestly, I read Calvin and Hobbes when I'm down.

my mom is fine actually

I read A Little Life. It knocked me back a few steps to say the least.

Depression is the vanilla ice cream of mental illness. It is so boring and common. This just makes having it feel all the worse.

Which one of his works? I've only read El Tunel, and while i ilked it a lot, i didn´t find it particularly depressing.

Sobre Heroes Y Tumbas is the most depressing Sabato work ever, and his best (and the best argentine novel imo).

>tfw I don't have schizophrenia

When my problems overwhelm me,I retreat to mental comfort foods. Lord of the Rings,I Claudius, and any of the Jeeves stories by P G Wodehouse. Bertie Wooster's problems make mine pale in comparison.

>nowadays

Gee user, it's almost as if there was some recent invention which allowed for large communication between similar people to take place regardless of their distance?

I usually read some comfy 'find your bliss' tier Joseph Campbell

Depression is a Jewish meme created to demoralize the goyim in order to depart them from their shekels. Psychology is a tool of the Jew for the sole advancement of the Jew. The thinking man's remedy for melancholy is toil and alcohol.

Patrician detected

tfw too embarrassed to see counselor because I know he'll just laugh at me for being privileged depressed kid

>all those 1st world people with access to psychiatrists, psychoanalysts and so on
>poor in a poor country/city
>those things not only are too expensive, and too far from my small town, but even if I had money and time (wagecuck) to get to them it'd probably be some unqualified social worker that only asks inane questions

Your tears are delicious you work-whipped Protestant sucker. Some Yamomamo dude is working 3hrs a day in amazonia and spending the rest of the time telling hilarious stories about Jaguars. I am laffin.

Its a combination of being a loser, knowing gods dead, and by now;emotional masochism.

>access to psychiatrists/sociologists
>anti depressing
Is this a joke?

I'm not religious, your Jewish mind tricks won't work on me. I am enlightened beyond the usury realm of the Jew, you can never touch me.

>Kafka
>Japanese lit

This. Kafka, Mishima, Oe, Akutagawa, and Murakami (Haruki, not Ryu) are comfy if you're depressed.

You are idealizing "psychiatrists" and "psychoanalysts." They are fucking idiots, bro

>Remedy is buying the fermented Jew.

Did you even think this through?

They don't do that though

People are a lot nicer than you expect, especially if you are honest with them about your failings

Mrs. Dalloway really stuck with me.

I'm afraid to read any David Foster Wallace because if I really like it I might conclude he really had something there with the whole hanging himself thing

50 shades of grey

Getting munted after failing exams is an Australian rite of passage

Mental illness because im a sperg.

Please help, what books have sperg protagonists.

Where do you live? In the U.K. awareness seems pretty high. I went to my GP and it was like I had a bad back or something. They just try to work out if it is chronic or the result of some recent incidents. The only hard questions are about suicide. If you are suicidal then mention you have had thoughts, but to say no when they ask if you have any plans or methods picked out. If you say yes then they can break doctor patient confidentiality because you are deemed a risk to yourself.

You say you think about suicide but not about how to do it. Unless you think you might actually do it soon and that thought scares you, in which case by all means, get emergency help.

He might do that behind your back, but he will try the most to help you either way buddy.

El túnel

Poverty and isolation.

The first two Gormenghast books are rather good, the world Peake creates is incredibly absorbing and it has that lovely gothic resonance, romantic and melancholy.
