Which book should I read?

Which book should I read?

In AP Veeky Forums we have to choose one of these to read alongside As I Lay Dying by Faulkner. Which book do you prefer (and which is most Veeky Forums)

Would it be difficult to read 2 Faulkner books at the same time?

holy shit is a separate peace actually put up with those other two
it seemed corny and lame even in 8th grade when i had to read it

>The Road
>A Separate Peace
>AP Lit
You need to go back

He did say it was the easiest, and I was actually considering it because reading 2 books by the same author at the same time sounds like a pain, and The Road doesn't appeal to me that much. Is A Seperate Peace actually bad, or just criticized for being easy to read?

AILD>LiA>>>The Road>>>>>ASP
I'm reading TSatF right after AILD and I don't feel like it's too much Faulkner.
AILD is short and paced really well for a quick read

What did he mean by this?

A Separate Peace is up there among the worst novels I've ever read.

What's so bad about it?

Read them both, you'll probably have to do some gay comparative essay or something so if anything doing it on one author is easier and more interesting.

Be practical. The Road is an fast read and its pretty accessible. If I was choosing books that I wanted to read for pleasure, it'd be the two Faulkners definitely. But for class? Make the shrewd and practical choice.

It was really fucking gay and also boring. Summary:
>boy meets boy
>boy wants to fuck boy
>boy tries to kill him for some reason
>breaks his leg
>ruins his dreams
>he dies for real later anyway
>also WWII is happening and war is scary and bad

>a separate peace
Waste of a slot
BUT DUDE LIKE
ONE PART OF THE RIVER IS MUDDY AND THE OTHER IS CLEAN
LIKE DUDE WOAH SYMBOLISM
THE GAY NERD LOSER IS LIKE MUD

Yeah I just saw that Light in August is over 500 pages (twice as long as As I Lay Dying). That's a little much for school (although I'll read it at some point).

If A Seperae Peace is really as shitty as this board says, I'll have to go with The Road. What am I in for?

>What am I in for?
Certainly not quotation marks.

WHOA WHOA WHOA
TREE
THE FALL
FALL OF MAN SYMBOLISM? GENESIS?

WHOA WHOA WHOA
THEY EAT APPLES IN LORD OF THE FLIES?
YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE HAD APPLE IN IT?
PINE-APPLE PEN? GENESIS? FALL OF MAN?

every fucking thing we read in PRE-AP Lit

Greentext?

No, no dialogue notation.

Untrue, unless it's the only novel you've ever read.

The Road is really solid book, you're in for a pretty desolate read though

They're not on the road that much desu

the Road is a quick read and is powerful. Incredible imagery.
