Why does Singapore have such high scores all the time? I don't get why it would be that much better than China, and they have a lot of Malaysians too, right?
Talk to some actual technical Singaporeans. They can't really compare with most of their Chinese or American counterparts. The education system there is oriented around maximizing test performance, not deep understanding. America's doesn't either, but there's never any substitute for self-directed, independent learning.
