Why are africans poor?

Essentially, this is the arguments presented in "Guns, Germs and Steel" by Jared Diamond.

I've read the book and found it interesting, but he wrote as if he had an agenda to present every variation of human as utter and completely equal in all capacities. Political ideologies/agendas and empirical science is hardly a good match.

In Africa the weather can change rapidly, areas that were fertile before dry up and ones that were unlivable suddenly become fertile. Combine this with the lack of a good storage food and you have a situation where you can't try new things because if you fail your entire tribe dies

Compare this to Europe where conditions are stable, you have food that you can store (grain) and the climate is mild and you get people that experiment, because even if it didn't work you have your grain and can survive and try again next year

To the average black the future does not exist, thus when a black is paid in anything he/she uses it like its their last time on earth meaning they blow all of their money away or all of their food away then wake up the next morning with nothing and are puzzled as to why they have nothing. Because of low urbanization rate. Civilization only exists in cities, and Africa doesn't have a lot of cities.

Urbanization rate though is on the rise and soon they will hit the "critical" 50% urbanization rate. After hitting that mark we will soon see functioning african state and quickly growing economies.
