yes

Probably exist now, but of course it's going to be secret because of fucking UN bitching about "muh human rights".

We're getting there, ethics are getting in the way though, we'll need an Age of Strife and then we'll be able to make Thunder Warriors.

I was just playing this game so I've been thinking about this.

The first answer is that some of the features of the space marines are already here.

Can go without sleep? Marines are conditioned extremely well in this area, and we have a long history of drugs that extend their capabilities.

And of course we have steroids for things like unnatural bulking.

Several of these features are basically sci-fi memes. What practical use is being able to spit poison if you're carrying around weapons and wearing a helmet?

All the awesome strength they supposedly have basically gets used lifting armour and weaponry, and any iron-man style suit built in our modern time is not going to work like that.

Possible? Yes
Today? No

Using a lot of roids and training methods, you could make near olympic level soldiers at least.

The level of brainwashing needed is not really allowed though.. Also in modern warfare, vehicles are more powerful and in infantry combat, skill and tactics is more useful so there is not a tremendous advantage you can get from a soldier who can punch you to death.

Man2man combat is pretty rare these days.
Education for military is a much more important. Those whove been in the military know the drill. Civilians know jack shit about life the military or who we were boosted, shaped and prepared for battle. They watch to much movies and news and then think they know the game. Oh, wait, they also Playstation. ..

Iz it possible fer us ta figth and kill theese humies?

Asking for tha warboss

Yes, but there is literally no reason to do so other than "shits and giggles."

>Yes, but there is literally no reason to do so other than "shits and giggles."

... or to win wars, I dunno.

>being unironically this dense

>Man2man combat is pretty rare these days.

It's funny, because it would solve pretty much any war related problems:
>we wouldn't need any weapons of mass destruction
>soldiers would actually fight
>it would be cheaper
>it would require actual skills
>equipping soldiers with modern armour, exoskeleton and better weapons would open new ways for science

Also impractical and unrealistic. So no, it isn't funny. Just fuck off to another board you disgusting brainlet. I don't care which one. You sicken me.

>have an actual discussion
>didn't start a fight
>didn't offend anyone
>you start a fight and act hostile

Please stop!
If you disagree, form actual arguments!

Super strength isnt useful in military since we have firearms and shit, it would be much better used for construction but machines can grasp heavy things much easier than humans so super strength is unneeded unless for sport.

You want an argument? These suits are idiotic for the simple reason that they have a human inside. If we make these they will be remote controlled.

It would be much easier to build since we wouldn't have to come up with some physics defying shock absorption for the human inside for when the thing gets hit by explosives.

They're just spicing this and that like madmen now. Pig and fish people have been made but these creatures are hardly "super" mostly just abominations.

>Super strength isnt useful in military since we have firearms and shit

You are completely fucking retarded.

Uhuh...You're not the brightest tool in the shed, you know that right?

>the brightest tool in the shed
LOL

China is also experiments on humans.
It's obvious that this technology is forbidden only for the plebs.

>These suits are idiotic for the simple reason that they have a human inside.

user, we discuss the topic of genetic engineering here.
It's not about some sci-fi armors.

>Super strength isnt useful in military since we have firearms and shit

How about spies?
Assassins?
Genius level intellects (very, very smart admirals and generals - just think about it)?

Also a soldier is not just about strength.

Selective breeding for traits that are valuable in soldiers has always been possible. With the relative ease with which we can identify valuable genes and the carriers thereof it may even be practical. But Spess Morons are a far cry from what modern "supersoldiers" would look like; there's no way to implement regeneration or redundant organs, and large size is more of a hindrance on the modern battlefield than a benefit. The most important traits in a modern soldier would be resistance to psychological stress and trauma, stamina, and discipline, which can all presumably be genetically enhanced.

Cheaper to make cyborgs honestly. High tech artificial organs and a hivemind communication system.

Warhammer 40k when?

Yes, the only thing stopping us is those pesky governments

>Warhammer 40k when?

The orkz are already everywhere.

>Super strength isnt useful in military since we have firearms and shit

actually, its because we have firearms that super strength would be useful.

the Mk-19 is a crew served automatic grenade gun. its heavy as shit and takes 2-3 people to carry and set up but only one to operate. same thing with the 240-B and M2. if we had a man-sized platform that could carry 2 of these weapons at the same time, that would definitely be useful.

you wouldn't have a whole squad of them, but they'd be very useful as fire support.

arguably this role could be done by robots, but a super strong human is just as good.

Indeed
Praise the God-Emperor, who will save us from this nightmare

This is a good point. Originally "Grenadiers" were the biggest and strongest soldiers because they were the designated grenade tossers, and in modern times it could still be valuable to field one-man emplacements. However in most situations it's preferable to have a fire team performing different roles (loader, gunner, spotter) rather than one man doing all three.

there are genetic markers in a few families that doctors have studied, their bones are ten times as dense as regular bones. you can bend a steel pipe on them.

yield strength of steel about 60,000 psi
yield strength of human bone 17,500 psi

the history channel is no longer a reliable source of any kind of information.

this

With great strength comes great firepower.

Should be yes, because we can take the genetics of a person that can run longer miles and that this persons oxygen intake is more effective. Thus u put those genetics in the egg cell when its 1 CELL and it will adapt and divide rapidly after some days.

THAT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE YOU FUCKING BRAINLET TOOLS CANT EMIT LIGHT UNLESS WE'RE TALKING FLASHLIGHTS BUT THOSE ARE MORE HOUSEHOLD ITEMS THAN TOOLS FHNXRFJJFXYJBCDDGBBN VGFDDDGGBBBVV

No we can't do it today. We'd have to engineer a fuckton of embryos, implant em' in a bunch of women, and abort all the ones that are retards.

Then we wait 20 years or so and hope we got the genetic engineering right. So yeah CRISPR has a pretty big error rate in human embryos and we don't know how to genetically engineer

>and in modern times it could still be valuable to field one-man emplacements

ideally your crew serve weapon would no longer be a static emplacement or relegated to mounting on top of an armored vehicle. the mobility of the weapon by having one guy carry it would make it appealing.

one of the major problems in military technology has been the load capacity of the human body. weapon designers are constantly trying to make things lighter just because the idea of making people stronger is too far fetched at the moment. a doubling in the carrying capacity of your average footsoldier would be a significant advantage for any freestanding army.

>What practical use is being able to spit poison if you're carrying around weapons and wearing a helmet?
Pretty dumb logic. Why bother with hand-to-hand combat training with soldiers, or hell, why bother with knives? They've got guns right?

Soldiers are trained to be effective, at least to some extent, with or without their equipment. Spitting poison might be a dumb way to do it, but it's just a way to make more effective in a way that the enemy can't take from them.

Everyone in this thread is an idiot. Why aren't people thinking about recruiting professional gamer to control robots to crush the bad guys? Only gamer have the reaction and buttons per minute to control the machine.

What exactly do people mean by super solider? Do you want somebody to bench press 9000 pounds? You'll probably be as big as a rock and an easy target and wouldn't be able to move very fast with all that weight. Comics books have petite females that can pick up 9000 pounds which isn't possible with their build. A better idea is to have a robot machine that's slimmer then OP's photo that people can wear to that can allow one to jump far and pick up heavy objects.
