ITT. Meta thread

Akira authorized every board to have its own meta thread as to review what seems to be wrong and what needs to be changed.

Without further ado I guess I should list one thing that is commonly agreed among some of the true Veeky Forums posters and/or ''oldfags'':

>Since the election, /pol/ has shown dedication into spreading their anti-scientific beliefs and other pseudo science (flat earth, IQ, race bait, etc). As a result, this board has turned into a /pol/-proxy where most of the discussions have either nothing to do with science/math or are simply threads about politics.

In response the mods have proven to be ineffective, to the point that sometimes it seems as if they were allowing it.

What should be done about this?

Autosage all threads that have "IQ" and "race" in the OP?

Though that would not really stop /pol/ from shitposting in other threads

My problem with Veeky Forums is that OP is always, perdon me, a bag of sticks.

Talking about race is certainly not "anti-scientific". If you don't want Veeky Forums to talk about that, that's fine, just say you want this to be a board that talks about science but not some parts of it, like how human beings have been affected by evolution. There are some parts of science that are very taboo and it makes sense why people on this board don't want to talk about it.

It seems to me that /pol/ is convinced they hold the ultimate truth and, in a board that's allegedly dedicated to discussing it, they are trying their hardest to taint its core without realizing they are either uninformed or just parroting the same things over and over.

>pseudoscience
>iq
>race bait
almost subtle

you do realize they get over a hundred replies every time right? it's your fault too.

>What should be done about this?
try making science/math threads instead of pointless whining threads like this

there are filters built into Veeky Forums, just filter 'flat earth', whatever else triggers you so badly, etc.

This is a thread about discussing the things that are clearly ruining the board. That involves off topic posts.

You don't seem to understand that its not about being triggered or not. But that if If people wanted those things they could go to /pol/ and get them, they dont belong here.

This happened before too, with the whole pony shit. Clearly you would say the same if people posted pony threads here? Its absurd and they have their place. So does /pol/ bait.

how do sage?

we need math based captcha's.

>But that if If people wanted those things they could go to /pol/ and get them, they dont belong here.
and if people here don't want to see them they could filter them

except here we are, you not using built-in Veeky Forums settings, and making new threads to whine about it instead

a thread died for this

Let me ask you this: every human in the world has some neanderthal DNA, except for sub saharan africans. Do you think it's unreasonable to postulate that maybe, possibly, this could lead to some physical and behavioral differences? Or is it anti-scientific to even pose the question?

>Talking about race is certainly not "anti-scientific".
Yes, but repeatedly creating threads about the same topics to spread your own opinions while ignoring all arguments brought up by someone else is.

>and if people here don't want to see them they could filter them

Sure. But they are still here when they shouldn't, just like I mentioned in the example with the pony threads. This is what I think you might not be getting.

Its not about just running away from the problem but trying to fix it, user.

Is this... not clear to you?

I'm just saying, if you don't want to talk about how evolution effects human beings, if you don't want to talk about that part of science, that is fine. But don't say it's because you don't want to talk about "pseudo-science". Just say it's because some parts of science are too uncomfortable for this board, and that people can talk about it elsewhere.

Yes, there are physical and behavioural differences between races. Happy now?

Here this image took me a couple of hours in Paint, it illustrates the a very basic principle which is enforced by the rules of every board.

Hopefully it is clearer to you now.

>Sure. But they are still here when they shouldn't, just like I mentioned in the example with the pony threads.
There has always been and will always be things you don't want to see on any given Veeky Forums board. You would know this if you had been here before the election. Report what's against the rules, filter what you don't want to see, hide whatever else gets through. This is what I think you might not be getting.

Is this... not clear to you?

>There has always been and will always be things you don't want to see on any given Veeky Forums board

Sure. But it seems to me that you are choosing to ignore the very purpose of this thread and why it was made now (and been remade over and over for the last few months) and thats due to the sudden increase of these unwanted posts.

I don't know if I can find any other ways to make this simpler to you, really, so I failed you in some sense.

I understand why you might be annoyed when right-wing people with obvious agendas come to talk about their stuff. But also be aware that it's obvious when left wing people do this too, and you probably don't even notice because you are inside that bubble...But everyone on the outside sees it as well and finds it just as obnoxious. I could easily claim that much of the stuff coming from psychology and sociology recently is a leftist/Marxist proxy, but you'd probably think that was silly, because you might be leftist yourself and you don't even notice.

>if you don't want to talk about how evolution effects human beings
Neither do those who create these threads. They never reply to actual arguments. They only spout their own opinion.

The wiki needs to be remade, most of its content are brainlet tier or not well thought. please remove that pic from that guy recommending stewart, there are better resources available and free as well!
Also both the "sci-wikia" and the wiki hosted in google sites are fucking horrendous design wise.

Take that as you will, just my humble opinion.

On what part is this pic you speak of?

The Math section in the wiki states several times that Stewart (among others) are not really good choices for self study and instead recommend other authors (among those Spivak and Apostol)

What's so big about niggers being dumb? You really need a scientist to tell you that somali niggers are dumber than koreans? Fucking hell, common sense is fucking broken.

well said

just spam the obvious /pol threads with work safe "blacked" images. this will make them stop shitposting and go jerkoff to interracial cuckold porn.

Dont miss the point user. Its making me wonder if you are really from this board or another one that should just go back.

you know some people use this website for more than one board right?

Of course.

sauce

sites.google.com/site/scienceandmathguide/subjects/mathematics

First link under "Guides".

Personally, I'd like to see in the wikia some sort of book catalogue, without links just in case, and reviews from anons and their personal take on each book.
Perhaps that sounds like too much work but I'm sure there are some people in this board that wouldn't mind giving some advice.
You could said something like: "hey dude why not just read amazon reviews", and I'd tell you that you're pretty much right but you can't use slang or fragments of imageboard culture in the reviews or anything not related to Veeky Forums.

tl;dr this with some light meems ocf.berkeley.edu/~abhishek/chicmath.htm

I'm really sorry for quoting you but this is the definitive
Sage TUTORIAL

If it's official, pin the thread.

Are text-only boards still around? Can those be used as containment for racial science discussions? Those threads do seem to abuse a lot of infographics that they cherrypick before presenting, so it might actually be better for discussion if they actually had to cite their information instead of leaning on bullshit graphs. That goes for every side of the debate, honestly.

Mods won't pin something that will contribute to the board. They clearly love the /pol/ cross posting like the mods on /tv/ love blacked posting.

blackedposting is the best thing to happen to /tv/ outside of cunnyposting and bane threads

DONT ignore meta threads. This is for your well being Veeky Forums
