depends on the subject

It's a meme based on english language research only.

Kind of a meme, just look at their population. Doesn't seem like a Nation that could produce scientific advancement in important institutions.

US Universities are becoming more and more foreign with the student body. Because of blacks and latinos, our middle and high school system struggles because we can't teach kids higher levels of subjects because the aforementioned groups would fail constantly. In the day and age of affirmative action failing a colored is racist. If it was up to me I would just let black and latinos drop out in middle school so they can work construction or just collect government cheddar.

>Rusky university>Cal Berkeley

>even ""elite"" unis are allowing stupid people in just because they happen to have black skin or their name is fernando
american education is a joke.

The USA has a couple of very rich, prestigious universities, with a strong social network, where a lot of cool expensive research takes place. This much is a fact. In these places, opportunities to do cool things as either a student or a researcher exist that are hard to find elsewhere. Because of this, these places have a concentration of awesome people to work and hang around with that is notably higher than in most other universities.

The idea that universities in the USA -- even the elite ones -- are a better place to get an excellent education or do groundbreaking research than almost all other universities in the world is a meme. Beyond the social benefits and access to funding for extracurricular activities, you can get just as good an education and do just as good research at many, many other universities across the world. If you look at universities in the USA *on average*, their quality is indeed quite a bit lower than what is common across the globe.

The future is gonna be way less colored in Universities. If the US ever goes the "free college" route then it would be only for STEM degrees because no one on the GOP or conservative Dems want tax money to go to Queer Studies because there is no return on investment. With STEM being too heavy in workload and studies only the asians and whites will succeed in it and with all other degrees not being tax subsidized, the coloreds will just drop out of college altogether.

US Universities have the sjw problem. No parent wants their kid to get fucked over in grades because these faggots are constantly protesting over the stupidest shit.

/r/ing the story about the kid who got accepted into Stanford for writing #blacklivesmatter a hundred times.

It's time to wake up and smell the ashes. I hate to admit it, but higher education is becoming a joke. I mean for fuck's sake: they let you skip assignments if your feefees were too hurt by a *democratic election*. Universities seem more catered to Kindergartners than mature adults. The sad thing is, this damaged reputation will only result in more people thinking they don't care about getting a higher education, and then we'll be back at square one.

One can only hope...

The disparate impact crowd would lynch Republican leaders before that ever happened.

Then the US can never have a good thing of "free college". Without the STEM only requirement you will have people take the easiest degrees which have zero return on investment for the government (in future taxes from workers). Also with everything being automated ans replaced with AI the STEM field is the only viable one left for employment.

...We put a man on the moon to, essentially, win a bet...

Why would America not be able to adjust to an important situation.

even if they do better research or have more money they teach the same textbooks they could provide in a mudhole deep in africa

elite unis used to deny smart people just because they happened to have black skin, but that was cool because there was only like 3 smart niggers in the whole country anyways.

Universities are top tier.
Schools are just shit.
If anyone blames the blacks and Hispanics they are obviously racist.

>University of Chicago
lol what
I guess Chiraq is good for once.

It's actually because of the rising reports of ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder. But whatever, be a delusional /pol/tard. Just look at shit holes full of mentally ill children that are almost all white, West Virginia, Minnesota, North Dakota, all breeding spots for autism.

Define best.

bet 90% of non-americans ITT use American textbooks in their universities.

Most "top uni" list have american uni's on them

We do have the best overall ones (Take your pick of Harvard, MIT, and Stanford) but we don't have all the best ones and the best ones in individual subjects such as possibly math aren't in the US. For example as the first poster showed, France is probably the best at math and has 2 of the top 3 math unis by # of field medalists.

Going by ARWU which is ok as far as rankings go (very low bar because they are usually shit) the US generally has the best faculties out of universities (main metric ARWU uses) in everything except for engineering.

According to USNews which is generally considered reputable, the US dominates(50% or more) everything but:
>Agricultural Sciences
>Engineering
And are on 50% for pretty much everything that concerns the environment. If it weren't for Cornell we would fall under this arbitrary limit.
