Without getting too psychoanalytic, males have fulfilled the protecting and providing role, which historically has been kinda shitty if you like your life comfy. The weight of the "masculine social construct" as sociologists call it is in fact quite heavy.
As a human, you are inclined to take the path of least resistance, your life is based around improving your day to day living by algorithms. Since protection and provision are no longer difficult, it makes sense to me that some would cast off the traditional role, as it is "needlessly" difficult in modern society, where women can get jobs/provide, and there's little to no danger in first world suburbia and cities.
As for homosexuality, idk, women can't penetrate each other without dildos, whereas men can penetrate and receive, with the receiving male getting his prostate stimulate, so it could improve the sensation ten-fold.
That's on top of the fact that testosterone just increases libido, not necessarily directed only at women. Go browse Veeky Forums sometime...

Read the "Modern Survey Results" section. The numbers are backed up by its source so click the reference when in doubt. In the UK and some other countries homosexuals were mashed in with bisexuals so ignore those numbers as they aren't relevant, the numbers that segregate homosexuality by gender are the important ones.
